About the Author

Michael Kleen earned a master's degree in American history from Eastern Illinois University in 2008. He is the author of numerous books, including Tales of Coles County, Illinois; Six Tales of Terror; Autumn and Winter; and Ashmore Estates: Myth & Legend.

Michael has also spoken on local history and folklore at Teapot s Cafe in Beecher, Illinois; Ashmore Estates; Charleston Middle School; and the 2007 Conference on Illinois History in Springfield. He has appeared on Joliet Paranormal Radio, AM-1050 WLIP, and has had several articles published in Paranormal Underground magazine and KILTER - the journal of Gothic Art Chicago.

Michael is the publisher and executive editor of Black Oak Presents, a quarterly digital journal of Middle American art and culture, and the proprietor of Black Oak Press, Illinois and Black Oak Media.

More About the Author

Michael Kleen is a writer, historian, and folklorist from Illinois. He has a M.A. in History from Eastern Illinois University and a M.S. in Education from Western Illinois University. He is best known for his work about Illinois folklore, but he is also a freelance columnist and speaker on politics and popular culture. Michael has written several books, including Haunting Illinois: A Tourist's Guide to the Weird and Wild Places of the Prairie State, Paranormal Illinois, and Tales of Coles County. He is also the founder and proprietor of Black Oak Media, an independent publishing company.
