Synopsis

In 2231, Mankind discovered a new engine which opened the way to the stars. Humanity built huge spaceships, colonized faraway worlds and started terraforming others in order to create inhabitable planets. This was a time of bliss: while exploring deep space, Humanity was united for the first time in its history. It didn’t matter what was the color of your skin, the place of your birth or the god you believed in. But soon enough, Man’s warlike nature got the upper hand, again. The wind of independence led the colonies to rebel against the almighty government ruling from faraway Earth. Humanity was on the brink of utter chaos.

As the situation was seemingly hopeless, an unknown race appeared. The aliens shared their technological knowledge with us and brought the civil war to an end. Doubtful at first, Mankind finally accepted this alliance without questioning these news allies, and allowed them to freely roam the Human space. They seemed to be looking for something.

All of a sudden, our strange new allies stopped sharing their knowledge and started regrouping their spaceships. When the first planets were attacked by our former friends, we were taken by surprise. All our spaceships were called back to Earth, to try reforming a strong fleet, defend our homeworld and put an end to the attack, but the enemy was too strong. In the midst of this hopeless fight, a worm hole suddenly opened and swallowed a few Human warships, which ended up stranded in an unknown and unexplored galaxy. Legends of Pegasus tells the story of this little fleet…

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid! August 15, 2012

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I truly, truly wanted to like this game. After playing games in what I thought was a similar style, I rolled the dice and picked this up before reading any reviews from the community.

The game is, in a word, terrible. In many words? It's poorly designed, has outdated graphics and a horrible UI, and crashes if you breath on it wrong.

It's as if they took the worst parts of every similar space game and crammed them together. You're forced to play "Episodes" in Single player rather than a more open-world game like Masters of Orion or Galactic Civilizations, which is what I thought I'd be getting into. The screenshots are, at best, misleading - it hints nothing at how horrible this game is to play.

Save $40. Or buy two copies of Endless Space and have a much, much better time.

Asking for a refund. Wish me luck.

1.0 out of 5 stars 4x bugs than nomal August 14, 2012
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this game pre-order on steam. Big mistake. The game is incomplete and buggy like hell. It took me 60s and the game was hanging for the first time: If you start the campaign you need to do an ALT-TAB to continue :-(. And it goes on an on. The UI is "unusual" if you want to say it friendly. The AI is more of an AD (artificial dumbness). My fun was zero. I opened a ticket with steam support to return the game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great potantial but game completely unplayble August 14, 2012
By LKR
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I have mixed filling about this one.
I like the game in general, the problem is that ... nothing working actually.

First the game would not load at majority of players (including myself) just started with black screen and connection errors (even in single player), then after some voodoo magic discovered by some players on forums, including Alt-Tab-ing etc. I managed to actually run it and started to play.
The result is game crashing almost constantly, sluggish and poor designed controls, rather minimal and useless tooltips (especially given the absence of manual), not working game buildings and technologies, impossible to finish (due to scenario bugs) campaign, save games that not loading ...
Total disappointment.

After 3 patches released one after another even on weekend most of the crashes (except the crashes in mufti-player, where the game still constantly crashes, in case you manage to start MP at all) were fixed, not all of them but most annoying.
The other problems still remain.

What hurts me that as a "fun-ability wide" the game has a really great potential, I believe that after a month or two of fixing it will be a great game, however the launch is total disaster, they released completely unfinished and untested game , something like Alpha version. After a latest patches it looks like a early Beta now.
I am really disappointed with this, but if they do not drop it and continue to fix it will be a great game.
Just not yet.
So I am not recommending buying it just yet for any money, surely not for $40, quality wise the game does not worth $15.
Also the graphics is "stunning" only by there low level.
Actually they are ok more or less, for strategy game, but nothing special and surely nothing "stunning".

1.0 out of 5 stars FRAUD August 16, 2012
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
FRAUD. Game feels like an early alpha. Placeholder text everywhere, UI is clunky, text is cut off, multiple CTD bugs, multiple save/load issues. Definitely not ready for release but was shoved out the door to take advantage of preorders and folks who ordered through retailers that don't give refunds no matter what *cough*STEAM*cough*. The publisher then has the nerve to say they were SURPRISED by the "rough launch" on their official forums. ANYONE who plays this for more than 5 minutes would be able to see this so I don't believe their story about being surprised. Hell, on the "New Game" screen, there is a blatant spelling error ("Please select a fraction" instead of faction) which just tells you that they did a pretty poor job of QA and testing on this game. Instead of doing right by their customers and offering refunds, they say they're going to offer some unstated "compensation" and they say they're going to be working on getting the game to a playable state. I estimate 6-9 months before this is really playable and it's a shame because it could have been a really good game. Kalypso has lost me as a customer going forward and I'm never ordering a game again unless I see some actual gameplay videos (which had been withheld on this title -- I wonder why?).

A Kid's Review
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Legends of Pegasus is a 4x space turn based strategy game. I pre-ordered this game on steam and got it several days ago, and boy was I disappointed. The game itself looked promising, but in the game's current state with all the bugs and problems they are having it's nearly unplayable because I can't even finish tutorial campaign, because objectives are hidden behind the screen borders, there are problems with loading and saving games. The thing is that the game could have been good, but it just has so many issues that it simply is not enjoyable. Buttons don't work. Unmovable UI elements that do nothing but block useful buttons. Some loading screens are missing. Ships get stuck in orbit during combat. Game crashes a lot. Multiplyplayer is unplayable. Skirmish mode is glitched and unplayable. And the list goes on, and on. LoP in it's current state is simply in an alpha state of a regular game, it's incomplete, filled with bugs and problems. It's just been a head ache to play, and made me really regret buying the game on steam. My recommendation for anyone who was planning to get this game is don't, at least not until the fix the game or finish it. If you are looking for a good 4x space game then I would suggest checking out Endless Space, while it has it's fair share of problems, the game is playable and enjoyable for what it is, whereas LoP is not. While LoP does have potential if the bugs are fixed, the game in it's current state it is no where close to being worth 40$ because the game is incomplete, buggy, glitched, and just bad.

WOOO .....
I hear ya, not sure what is causing the re-invigoration of this genre, but I love it! Hopefully someone will make a Masters of Orion 4 to do the original two games justice. Looking forward to Legends of Pegasus!
