5.0 out of 5 stars Great Radio Science Fiction, October 2, 2005
This review is from: Legends of Radio Science Fiction Classics (Audio CD)
Many science fiction fans already know about the excellent 1950's radio shows "Dimension X" and "X-Minus One", but what was surprising to me was the great science fiction that aired on other radio shows as well. The audio quality is generally good and the 32-page booklet is excellent. The following is a list of the 18 episodes in this set (Lux Radio Theatre is an hour long show):

DIMENSION X
"Destination Moon" by Robert A. Heinlein 6-24-50
"Pebble in the Sky" by Isaac Asimov 6-17-51
"Almost Human" by Robert Bloch 05-13-50

X-MINUS ONE
"There Will Come Soft Rains" and "Zero Hour" by Ray Bradbury 12-5-56
"A Gun for Dinosaur" by L. Sprague de Camp 3-7-56
"Colony" by Philip K. Dick 10-10-56
"A Pail of Air" by Fritz Leiber 3-28-56
"The Seventh Victim" by Robert Sheckley 3-6-57
"Junkyard" by Clifford D. Simak 2-22-56
"Mr. Costello, Hero" by Theodore Sturgeon 7-3-56

THE LUX RADIO THEATRE
"The Day the Earth Stood Still" by Harry Bates 1-4-54
"The War of the Worlds" by H. G. Wells 2-8-55

CBS RADIO WORKSHOP
"Green Hills of Earth" by Robert A. Heinlein 7-21-57

THE SHADOW
"The Man Who Was Death" by Alfred Bester 2-29-48

LIGHTS OUT
"Oxychloride X" by Arch Oboler 2-16-43

QUIET PLEASE
"Adam and the Darkest Day" by Wyllis Cooper 11-07-48

EXPLORING TOMORROW
"Speak No More" by Gordon R. Dickson 1958
"No Way Out" by Robert Silverberg 3-58

5.0 out of 5 stars A great assest to any SF Library, October 3, 2004
This review is from: Legends of Radio Science Fiction Classics (Audio CD)
A few years ago, I was asked some of my best SF stories at a Writer's workshop. After I rattled off tittles like Bradbury's There will Come Soft Rains, Heinlein's Destination Moon, Wells's War of The World (which most knew-Thank God), most seem dumb struck

When this volume of classic SF radio stories came out, I thought it was a perfect blending of Old radio with SF.

Yes, the old radio style work in recapturing these tales on CD with clear masters and very little popping and fizzing old radio has.

So those fans of SCI FI medioum , who remember Sci Fi which came before Classic Star Trek or Classic Star Wars, this is your collection! A great audio volume for any one Science Fiction Library--Bennet Pomerantz, AUDIOWORLD
