Another great singer from the "hoy hoy" era of music (1946-1953).
You can't go wrong if you love classic R&B. (that's nothing like the stuff today that is considered R&B). Or if you love jump blues, this CD is for you.

A Jump-Band at its best,

A must-have CD in this genre. Stompin', uplifting and more varied than I expected. The only limitation is Jimmy's vocals. He's not bad by any means but he is limited and gets a bit samey after a while. He had other worthy vocalists in his band that should have been handed the mic now and again. Otherwise a great listen.

My Review of: Jimmy Liggins & His Drops Of Joy: Specialty,
By Scott Waggoner (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Legends of Specialty (Audio CD)
This is one of the quintessential jump bands of all time! There are at least, to my recollection at this time 400+ bands in the USA who are playing "I ain't Drunk", a Jimmy Liggins original. Ask Sumpter Bruton about Jimmy. He played the Continental with T-Bone and Charlie Christian & a host of others. The Skyliners(to become "the band") are Sumpter's roots. If he doesn't know nobody does!
