Pretty good but version description misleading., January 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Legends of Monkey King [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My kids enjoyed watching this English version (very entertaining) but they were a bit disappointed that the storyline did not go so far as described on the cover --- Monkey does not yet meet Pigsy & Sandy and only just met Tripitaka when the movie ends.

Great Movie:Weird Translations, June 24, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Legends of Monkey King [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have the Chinese version of this movie and if I translate into English the names are totaly wrong. The Monkey King is supposed to be Sung Wukong, the pig is suposed to be Zhu Bajie and the monk with the big beard's name should be Wujing. Finally the monk's name is suposed to be Tang Sang Zhang instead of whatever the English version calls him. It's a good movie but lots of things are wrong in this version which makes me mad!!!!!!!

A Long Way From Sun Wa Kung, January 20, 2007
This review is from: Legends of Monkey King [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This cartoon version is a long way fromt the classic Chinese legend, It does, however, provide an interesting view of how modern animation deals with ancient legend. As a teacher using this for a course, I was pleased. As a lover of ancient Chinese literature, I was pained.
