4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME WITH A MINOR FLAW
First off I love the Arthurian legend, so this game appealed to me before I started playing it. The graphics are nice, and the strategy in the game is very good. Mission 2 is hard at first, but when you finally master it it becomes much easier. I did get frustrated at first but as I played more, it did get better. It is relatively hard, so if you enjoy a bit of a...

3.0 out of 5 stars could have been better.
This game is an ok for the PS2. The graphics are not all that good and the CG's are pretty good too. Another thing I dont really like is that you have to switch your characters when fighting. That was pretty easy to get used to though. The characters are small it almost looks like PS graphics when fighting. The sound and the phrases of the characters start to get...

First off I love the Arthurian legend, so this game appealed to me before I started playing it. The graphics are nice, and the strategy in the game is very good. Mission 2 is hard at first, but when you finally master it it becomes much easier. I did get frustrated at first but as I played more, it did get better. It is relatively hard, so if you enjoy a bit of a challenge this game is for you. I like the way you control other characters and can command them to do things, but I wish a bigger party was possible and some characters are better off not being used at all so you need to re-use the same ones. The biggest flaw with this game is how it saves data. You do not get to choose where and when you save, the game autosaves and only works off of one slot. If you missed an item or anything else, you cant go back and are stuck once it saves. If they wanted to do an autosave, the should allow you to re-do missions. Because of the save feature, this game gets 4 stars out of 5.

4.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT GAME, December 31, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Legion: The Legend of Excalibur (Video Game)
I got this game based on the reviews on many sites. They mostly gave 3 stars. When I got this game I was expecting it to be good but with a few flaws. And thats what it was like. This game is an excellent game for strategy and RPG gamers. It has the famous story of king arthur and the knights of the round table. This game lets you find all 8 knights of the round table and select 2 to travel with you on individual missions. I loved this game. I would recommend it to anyone who thinks that it might be cool and if your worried it might [be bad] It is better than what people write their reviews about.

The Good:
13 Huge levels of fighting and roleplaying.

Choose the knights of the round table to go with you on
missions.

Lots of items to find and equip in different levels.

Awsome cutscenes and movies.

The Bad:
Autosaving, you cannot save the game when you want. It automatically saves after you complete a mission. You cannot save during a mission.

Missions can be long and you cannot save to rest.

When you die during a mission you start at the beginning.

RATING
This game is pretty tough for the first couple of missions but, it is a great game and I recomend this game to any hard core gamers. FOUR STARS.

This game is an ok for the PS2. The graphics are not all that good and the CG's are pretty good too. Another thing I dont really like is that you have to switch your characters when fighting. That was pretty easy to get used to though. The characters are small it almost looks like PS graphics when fighting. The sound and the phrases of the characters start to get annoying after a while. Some levels it is fun to destroy the enemy and then some they just overwhelmed me and got very frustrating. The only thing I really liked was the story of the game. Where Arthur has to fight his evil sister to save england. That would proably be the only thing that saves this game. I would not say to buy this game, I would more likely say to rent it.

4.0 out of 5 stars odds and ends, September 4, 2002

This game is one of the best games I have ever played. And I played alot of games. It is fun if you like action adventure games that have fighting or other violence. I started playing and was hooked. After you get used to how to play it and figure out where to look for things it is more fun. But this was a short game for me to beat. The graghics are a bit less than I would expect for playstation2.

5.0 out of 5 stars The good, the bad, and the ugly, August 2, 2002
This review is from: Legion: The Legend of Excalibur (Video Game)
Well, what to say? I really liked this game. If I had to compare it to other games I would say it is like a combination of diablo and gauntlet legends. In some portions of the game it was repetitious to say the least and in some parts I got so mad I through my controller. But for the most part it was fun all the way around and it was just hard enough to keep me coming back for more after licking my wounds.

4.0 out of 5 stars great concept!!!, June 14, 2002
This review is from: Legion: The Legend of Excalibur (Video Game)
Finaly Midway realese this one, cant wait to play the final version. I played the E-3 version, and I was prety surprise they actualy pull it off with this one. You get to pick and recruit Knights. Switch from them, give them orders for them to do, while you attack one brige on your own, or take a few knights with you, while the other heros will decapitade and fight for you, perhaps losse their life for the KING! The effects that I saw were pretty good, some nicer than other, but fitting for the spells that they were symbolizing. Second level was tough, even thought it seems liek you can just go and run around to attack armies; if you dont plan how to do it, you are a definate a shiskabob! stragedy is a rule factor of this game. This is the same designer that worked on Command & Conquered, so expect similar, but improved ways to set stragedy. Overal I think this game will be one of those games, that at first looks liek any other game, but once you have your battalion follow you orders to victory, you will be in for great sence of acomplishment. I know I was!

No words can describe this game, it is a MUST have for a PS2 owners. Its graphics are phenominal and controls are easy to lean, but the game play is the best. WARNING, this is a super-addictive game. I would say Legion: Legend of Excalibur ranks right up with games such as Tony Hawk PRO Skater3, GTA-3, GRAN TURISMO 3, and the Final Fantasys. This game is what you bought your PS2 for. Turly, I think a possiable game of the year.

The game was very well overall, but I found if you were a beginner, you'd have a very hard time beating this game. I suggest buying a gameshark which gives you cheats such as maximum health for all you warriors and stuff like that. Oh, the poor reviews i've read on this game are just not justified, you have to have patients with a role playing game, thats how and why they are made.

What a disappointment! Being a huge fan of the Gauntlet series (also by Midway) and fan of the King Arthur stories, I was stoked to play this game. Something told me to rent it before buying and I am so happy I did. The play is elementary - pure and simple - no fun. The graphics are okay but the characters you are using are so tiny you can hardly make them out (and I play on a 32" TV)...
