Take down a smooth double shot of aged whiskey, chase it with a breath of cold brown ale, and you get a good sense of what Scotland Bar and the Slow Drags are all about. These are classic, rust-tinged ballads that help warm you up on the way down. . .a collection of journeys through a landscape of sunsets and shattering glass. . . hints of Townes van Zandt, Neil Young, and George Harrison make this CD a nice one to play again and again. . .especially at 2 a.m. when you need a little something else to get you through the night. . . and these guys and their tightly formed and performed music will definitely get you through and you'll be glad you took the trip along with 'em. . .
