Editorial Reviews

This outrageous new comedy stars Australian Jim Jefferies as an edgy, foul-mouthed stand-up comic living in Los Angeles, struggling to make his life and career more "legit." But every time Jim tries to do the right thing, his good deeds turn into wildly inappropriate and utterly hilarious escapades. Joined by his neurotic best friend and roommate, Steve, and Steve's wheelchair-bound brother, Billy, Jim takes comedy to a whole new level, whether it's visiting a Las Vegas brothel, partying with the mentally-challenged or trying to pick up women at a gay bar.

Hope they keep going for a few more seasons!

And it's a constant game of one-upsmanship as shows consistently push the boundaries of good taste and oftentimes walk right over them.

This is a good comedy series to check out, if you are a big comedian fan.

With the proliferation of cable television, traditional sitcoms have become fewer and farther between. It seems like everyone is racing to the airwaves with the rudest, most obnoxious stories possible! While some might be distressed by this phenomenon, the liberation has created some of the boldest and funniest shows imaginable. From the FX stable (It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Archer, The League, Louie), to Comedy Central (South Park, Workaholics), to premium channels like HBO and Showtime--the choices are really endless. And it's a constant game of one-upsmanship as shows consistently push the boundaries of good taste and oftentimes walk right over them. I think it's fair to say that Australian comedian Jim Jefferies is content to smash those notions of propriety and refinement with his brash FX showcase "Legit." Jefferies embraces his role as the unrepentant, oblivious and obnoxious antihero and, with almost no rules, you never know quite where "Legit" will take you next. It may make you feel slightly dirty afterward, but that's part of its inherent charm.

Season One of "Legit" is comprised of thirteen episodes (each about 22 minutes without commercials) for a running time just shy of five total hours. Special Features available on the DVD/Blu-ray:

Commentary on all episodes featuring Jim Jefferies, Peter O'Fallon and Dan Bakkedahl
Deleted Scenes
Gag Reel
Jim Jefferies' Journey
Rodney Autotune
Pilot - Director's Cut

The premise behind "Legit" has Jefferies playing a version of himself. He's an Australian comic trying to manage his burgeoning career from his home in Los Angeles. That being said, it isn't a workplace comedy as much as a dysfunctional family saga.

When I ordered this series in Feb 26th, the second season of this show came out on the same day. Every episode on this DVD has very funny plots. This is a good comedy series to check out, if you are a big comedian fan. The second season of this show is currently airing new episodes on Wednesday nights on FXX, FX's sister channel.

Such a great show, especially if you're familiar with Jim's stand up. I make all my friends watch it because they need to see god comedy. Definitely worth purchasing, I've probably watched the entire season 5 times.
