4.0 out of 5 stars Today is Lego's 50th anniversary and this one has soared in value
Yes, Lego is 50 years old, a fact touted by Google today. Depending on your age, you'll either find yourself to be "younger than Legos" or realize (gulp) that you are older than they are. Yes, they HAVE been around that long.

3.0 out of 5 stars Republic tank not enough to destroy CIS.
Overall, I think that these Star Wars sets are the greatest thing that was ever created. But this AT-TE, where do I start! The main frame of the the tank is great, with movable cannons and many clone troopers to battle with. However, the legs are the flimsyest things ive ever seen! In my first battle against the Hailfire Droid, both front legs collapsed! Now I know...

Yes, Lego is 50 years old, a fact touted by Google today. Depending on your age, you'll either find yourself to be "younger than Legos" or realize (gulp) that you are older than they are. Yes, they HAVE been around that long.

Since my son has this AT-TE set, I thought I'd put in a word about how cool the Star Wars sets are (besides the fact that they seem to increase in value over the year, a decent investment for those who can maintain the original boxes and instructions).

My son won't even take this particular Lego item out of the room, however -let alone move it - because it is so FRAGILE. You should know this! Put in a display case or somewhere protected - once it is built. Even with that caveat, he enjoys having this. He likes being reminded of the fact that he actually built it, slowly, over time. It is a sign of having succeeded at something he describes as "very hard to do" - but he says that with pride.

Here's the thing about Legos - they are actually educational. Following the directions takes skill and attention to EVERY little detail. This also builds resilience, tolerance for frustration and the desire to handle the challenge. Some kids probably give up in frustration but for those who don't - well, it is sure better than plopping down in front of the television set!

The major benefits of Star Wars and other Legos:

1. They help develop an attention to detail and make reading directions fun and worth the time. There is a clear payoff for the time involved and kids love looking at the results of all that hard work. Our son has his right next to his soccer trophies.

2. Kids can create their own works and then turn around and make the "official" version. Also, the tie-in to Star Wars, resonant, evocative.

3. Adults often maintain an affection for Legos and keep collecting them.

4. If you do some research online, you'll discover that Legos are considered one of the most "trusted toys" around. I have my theories about why this is so. Part of the appeal is that they start with easy sets and then work up to harder ones. There have been imitations but people seem to come back to the classic Lego sets.

Just don't make the mistake we did. Hang on to the boxes and original instructions. We've got the instructions but not the box for this one.

The ATTE's legs can easily break. I have had problems with the front and back end coming off. All in all, it is a good toy.

I just got this and it is AWESOME!!!! It is so realalistic and detailed it almost looks like the real thing! It took me about 2 hours to build, but it was worth the time. Even though it is a little cofusing to build I didn't have much trouble. But it is not the most durable toy. It's legs break REALLY easy, so don't be getting this for someone who is going to move it around a lot or play with it too wildly or you may end up having to build it again. Over all this is a GREAT addition to any Star Wars Lego fan!!!!!!!!!

The AT-TE is a great addition to any SW Fan LEGO Collection. There are many great features and it has great play value. The price is a little high -- but will be much enjoyed by many young builders, and many older collectors alike.

You will thoroughly enjoy this set if you like lego or star wars. Decent build, very fun, especially with more than one person. The only problem is that the legs are too weak and too strong at the same time. Too weak are the pieces that join the bottom of the foot to the angled (and way too strong) connectors. But aside from that, this set is worth a try if you can find it for MSRP.

I like Star Wars and enjoy building the Lego assessories but this model stinks! I have built it twice and the legs have broken each time. This ruined my birthday!

I got this model for christmas, and I built it in less than a day. However, it came apart after a rough landing, so I built it again. It came apart AGAIN. Good model, but not the bes durablity.
