Product Description

Editorial Review

The Bohrok, a race consisting of six insectlike species that use elemental powers, add to the mythological story of the Bionicles. The Kohrak are the Ice Bohrok, who can freeze whatever they touch. While they can react as a group, they prefer to fight one on one, making it easier for the Toa to capture them. This 40-piece Bionicle kit uses a system of ball-and-socket joints, pegs, gears, and machinelike body parts for assembly. The illustrated instructions are easy to follow, and the black, white, and gray pieces snap together without difficulty. A lever just behind the back of the head can be pressed to make the top dome lunge forward--a simple but incredibly cool effect. The completed Kohrak stands solidly on its own, offers a variety of offensive or defensive poses, and can be suspended in its container when not in battle. --Pam Lauer

5.0 out of 5 stars Kudos to Lego!, July 10, 2002

This review is from: LEGO Bionicle: Kohrak (8565) (Toy)
I am very impressed with the entire Bionicles line of toys. We have all the Toa and are now starting in on the Bohrok. Kohrak is the first Bohrok we've purchased. My son and I enjoy putting them together and playing with them making up storylines as we go. The Bohrok are unique in that you can curl them up into a ball and hang them from the top of the canister so they are sort of like cocooning. There are even air holes in the lid to add to the realism. Lego has done a fantastic job with these toys. We love logging on to lego.com and reading updates about what has happened on the island where the Toa and Bohroks and other creatures live. The graphics for their online episodes (short videos) are really cool, too. You can create a whole world in your imagination and do lots of role playing. We check the map and see where each creature lives and what power each mask gives the wearer. I don't think my son will outgrow these for a while. He's only four! The truth is I love them as much as he does. So if he ever does outgrow them they are mine!

One thing I need to mention that I dislike about how Lego handled this line. They have some speciality items, kanohi (masks) and more, that were available only for a short time at certain locations. For example, McDonalds, Toys R Us and Walgreens had various masks or creatures available. We've missed out on all of those unless we want to pay big bucks at an online auction site.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Swarming Bohrok!, February 17, 2002
A Kid's Review
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Bionicle: Kohrak (8565) (Toy)
This review will be the same for every Bohrok. All six of them are alike, but different in their own unique ways. Each one comes with a randomly packed Krana (unlike the Toa which came with a set Kanohi.) The design is cool because you can roll them into a ball and hang them from the top of the pods that they come in. Each one also has a headbutting action. By pushing a lever in back, their heads will snap forward pretty quickly. Also, by hitting the Bohrok in the eyes, you will cause the "Krana pan" to shoot forward, releasing the Krana.

Going back to the Krana, they are little pieces of rubber molded into 8 different forms. You just put the Krana in the pan and lock the top of the head, securing them. Also, for fun, the Krana can be put on the Toa's heads, and they fit perfectly. (But are smaller than Kanohi.)
