My 6 yr. old son needed help putting this together the first time, but after that he could take it apart and do it himself. It is good for learning to follow directions and stays together better than some other kits so he can play with it --a little bit anyway. We got a good price on it through Amazon, and have gotten several hours of play so far. Also it comes in a cannister to keep the parts & directions in, which is nice.
