Just received this in the mail and let my son open it. He was thrilled! And the fact that it comes with batteries pre-installed is an even bigger plus. (It's kinda nice that this isn't a corded alarm clock; no need to worry about power outages.)
It's a little smaller than I had originally anticipated, but that's my own fault for not looking at the dimensions. (It's about 9" tall).
I was quite pleased with how rugged it appears to be. That having been said, though, you should keep in mind that this is NOT a toy. Well, okay, it IS a toy, but not one that's designed for the rough play of a 7-year-old.
I was also pleased with the balance of this clock/toy. You can easily pose it in a variety of positions and it doesn't fall over. It's also kinda neat that if you press down on the head, it lights up to show you the time (or activates the snooze feature if the alarm's going off).
Bottom line: Nice product, good value.

I waited too long to order so it didn't end up under the tree, but my 8-year-old was SOOOOOOOOO excited when it came a few days later that it didn't matter. The kid that I had to practically shove out of bed in the morning now gets up on his own. It has helped ALL of us in the mornings -- and the best part is he also gets to play with it! This is often the Master of Ninjagos when he plays with all his Legos. I love it! (and so does he!)

I bought this as a birthday gift for a 6 year old boy I nanny. He LOVES it! He doesn't use it for the actual alarm part (but every feature works), but he plays with it all the time. He also has the ninjago Kai alarm clock, so he plays with them together a lot. He can get a little crazy with the sword thing, but he's 6 so what do you expect? A must have for Ninjago loving kids!

All of my kids have their own lego clocks, this being one of them. They work really well. The first one was purchased in June 2012 and so far the battery is still good so it doesn't appear to drain the batteries (of course my children are still young and do not use the alarm on a daily basis so I guess we will have to see in later years if that drains the battery)
