Completely Useless,
By Chip "Chip" (CT) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lego Batman: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback)
I recommend NOT wasting the money on this guide. It seems only half-finished with very vague descriptions of the different character and item uses. The guide may help you get through minor areas of the game, but it does nothing that a few moments of game-play problem solving wouldn't help. The maps are helpful, but as far as percentage-completion is concerned you're better off finding a walkthrough online- it would be far more accurate and thorough. While I'm certainly not looking for "cheat codes" I would appreciate it if the information in this guide was at the very least detailed and correct. For example, it would be better if it read "In order to unlock this character, you must complete X,Y,Z" or give accurate descriptions of each character's abilities (in at least three cases, we found that these were incorrect or too vague to be useful - i.e. Catwoman has the ability of security clearance, but at which points specifically?). This guide is absolutely not worth the money to purchase it. If a particular point confounds you it would be a better use of your time to simply google the level on which you are stuck.

Perfect solution for an on-the-go 10-year old.,

This review is from: Lego Batman: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback)
I had bought my 10-year old nephew the game as a gift for his PSP. He hit a point where he just couldn't move to the next level - and this book solved the dilemma. It's filled with the details he needed. He absolutely loves the maps, tips, descriptions and pictures of everything - and, most importantly, it's kept playing the game enjoyable for him.
While some other reviewers point out that it's possible to find more detailed instructions on-linem for children & on-the-go players, I think this book is the solution. Just grab the book with the game and PSP, and it's complete, enjoyable entertainment when out and about.

This guide helped us find every thing we needed to complete the game at 100%. Lego Batman has been the best game in the series to date.

A great guide that helps you along on your navigating the Lego Batman world - without giving you every single answer to every question. It really helps when you are stuck! well worth the $$ if you have the game!

ign.com has far better guides for free. The guide is too vague and sometimes the photos and descriptions do not even match the scene -- It is like they wrote the guide using an alpha or beta version of the game and only had a few days to complete the project.
It adds a little to the game but was not much help when I needed it. Not well laid out -- making it extremely difficult to find information in a hurry. It was easier to use free, online guides or just keep trying different things rather than waste time trying to find the information in this guide. Grade of C at best.

I don't give many reviews less than average but this one very much deserves it. For starters, it offers very little detail on what needs to be done. Many times I have had to go online and read free guides there to figure out what to do.
Free guide = helpful $16.99 guide = not helpful? I was also disappointed by the fact that since cheat codes are openly supported in this game without penalty from use, that they are not in the guide?! Also, I may be getting older but some of the print is very difficult to read (mainly on the maps). I also did not like that there was no checklist for the cannisters like there was in the LEGO Indiana Jones guide (which was much better by comparison). This really helped me complete that game. I also tend to check off achievements I get in games so I can keep track. While the achievements are listed here, there are no checkboxes or even a white background where I can put a pen mark. It is little things like this that hurt. This guide did help me in a few places but if I knew then what I know now, there is no way I would have purchased this considering the quality of the free online guides (as well as the videos)

I've used these guides before for other games. I dunno but this one seems to have a more "complex busy" feeling about the layout. Like they're trying to get to artistic/crazy with the design and not focusing on the actual info
