This set is thus far the crown jewel of LEGO chess sets. In contrast to most previous sets, there's plenty to build in addition to playing the game [chess] itself.The packaging resembles a giant bookcase complete with buttoned latches, and provide a permanent case for the set even after it's been built. It's too bad LEGO only had this on the market for a limited time. It should be noted however, that the list price is not $599.99. LEGO was selling this set for $199.99 when it was first released. Understandably the after-market value has increased, but indicating a list price of $599.99 is grossly misleading. The set comprises 2,481 pieces (placing its value at around $300-$350, realistically). [...] |
