As a play set, this is a great feature. When you're trying to move it up high for display, it is an issue.
The light up brick works very well in the lighthouse, I'm glad they included one for this set.
Next to the lighthouse is a cannon designed to shoot a net to catch the mermaids. It works more for the imagination than it does in function.
The two paddle boats and the mermaids make for a great addition to the Queen Anne's Revenge. I have this set, the Queen Anne's Revenge, the London Escape, and the Imperial Flagship on top of my dresser right now.
It looks pretty spiffy; my little brother has been begging me for weeks to let me play with them.
to start out you get roughly seven numbered bags, a small bag with gold pices in it and some loose stuff. the numered bags make this TOO easy. When i made the Grand Carosel i thought i would never get it done because all the pieces were mixed up. i thought it would be easier to numer the bags in steps. well, apparently, lego heard me. everything i've done lately is in numbered bags for steps...and it s too easy. especially when there are only 700+ pices total.
ok, i didn't mean to complain, it is a nice set. there are four human minifigs, including Jack Sparrow, and two mermaids. there is also a lightbrick that i will warn now, when you get that piece all put togeter do NOT shine it in your eye, it is bright.
there are two rowboats with lanterns on them.
there are a few steps i am having problems understanding why they were put in. t could have been done differently and looked better or at least the same
all in all it is still a great lego set. goes god with the pirates and castle sets which is where it will be placed.
The minifigures are all good, especially the pirates. Philip and Scrum look the best.
The net shooter is ok. There is a function where you can tip a barrel over and that works great. The searchlight works well too. However, the function where you tip the tower over makes the tower very unstable and fragile. A small push wrecks the whole thing. If you don't like this, you can adjust it slightly and remove the play function by removing 8 1x1 tiles from the tower. Then it is much better.
Overall, this is a very good set. I do recommend it, as it looks fantastic and is fun to build and play with.
