4.0 out of 5 stars No More Errors! November 24, 2011
Verified Purchase
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
The version that was sent out at the end of November (after the 21st or so) of 2011, is now FIXED. I have purchased this from Amazon and it now works fine. It starts up and fine, and no problems after a couple hours of play.

While the handling of this situation may not be best by the manufacturer, it would be best to please stop giving this title 1 star for Securom Issues. Again, it works fine now.

As for the game, if you've played other "Lego" games from the same manufacturer, you know what to expect here. Graphics are nice, music is authentic. Gameplay is the same as it ever was, with a few tweaks here and there.

Edit: I wanted to add that the game does NOT connect to GFWL. This is both a positive and negative, since GFWL is DRM, but it also means you can't get achievements either like you could for the previous Potter game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Game will not work - has been recalled November 21, 2011
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
My son was very excited to receive a copy of this game for his birthday. However, after installed the 8 GB of data on our Windows 7 PC, the game would not run. It kept showing the error

Wrong disc inserted.
Please insert the original "LEGO Harry Potter 2" CD/DVD.
Please have a look at [...] for further, more detailed information.

Evidently, this game for Windows has been recalled due to problems with the securom DRM.
Do not buy this game for Windows unless you know the problems have been solved!

5.0 out of 5 stars It Works! December 4, 2011
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My wife and I bought the game on December 3rd from a Target. We were very skeptical about whether the game would work having experienced the bug infested Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 in addition to the November 18th recall of years 5-7. However, we installed the game without a hitch and during the first run, the game took so long to load we thought it was a bad copy. We decided to try it one more time and give it as long as it needed to load. We were pleasantly surprised to see that it was loading more quickly, so we urge others out there to be patient with the first few loads. We are talking minutes of waiting, but it's worth it. We have been thoroughly enjoying a glitch free game ever since even though we are only 9.4% complete with it.

We are really happy with the graphics, game-play, and creativity. The scenery is beautiful to look at, and all of the characters have new idiosyncrasies. We are overjoyed to have such an awesome Harry Potter experience just in time for Christmas.

1.0 out of 5 stars SecuROM/TT/WB have no Quality Control November 23, 2011
By Tarawa
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
This has happened previously and these programmers don't even release a patch to override their mistakes--THEY NEVER HAVE DONE IT. I have the other 9 lego games(PC/XBOX): Star Wars (I,II,III & Complete Saga),Indy (I&II),Batman,Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter Yrs 1-4. A third of them have always crashed--Poor Quality Control. I searched the internet, looking for a WORKABLE SecuROM work-around--none of them worked. Avoid!

1.0 out of 5 stars Once again, DRM ruins the fun for paying customers November 23, 2011
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
As others have reported, due to a problem with the DRM, the game will install but won't play. Works fine if you replace the main game executable with a pirated one that removes the DRM. Bravo WB - way to prove yet again how you completely fail to understand the PC game market. I may as well have just pirated the game from the start! Quit punishing the paying customers and get rid of the DRM!

1.0 out of 5 stars This particular version doesn't work! March 15, 2012
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
This particular version of the game has a known bug. It shouldn't be sold, because it will break the heart of little kids who patiently wait for its arrival in the mail only to be disappointed when the game can't be installed. The result is parents having to deal with crying kids who saved a whole month of hard earned allowance money to buy the game and parents wasting an inordinate amount of time trying to return the defective game. Do not buy this version if you value your sanity.

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
My son used his birthday money to purchase this title and now has nothing but hours of troubleshooting frustration to show for it. From reading other reviews, apparently WB/Lego has recalled the title. Well, they need to tell retailers about it because ours was purchased at Target. Of course unaware retailers will not accept the return of the item.

Stay away from this game until it is fixed. I am not sure how to know whether or not your version is the corrected version or not. Save you money.

1.0 out of 5 stars RECALLED November 22, 2011
By Hpgirl
I just spoke to WB's customer service on the phone. THE GAME HAS BEEN RECALLED. He had no information on when the new copies would be sent, so in the meantime, don't buy it.

EDIT: Apparently it's fine to buy now. However, I've yet to hear back from the manufacturer, so if prompt customer service is something that concerns you, then you might want to reconsider. This is also a company that used Securom, so if you care about supporting that shady company, then you might also want to reconsider purchasing.

I own this for the PS3 and PC. I bought the disc version of the game instead of the download. I enjoyed the PC version more for single and found it to be more stable. Read more
