Heavy System Requirements,
By Johnny5 (San Diego, CA USA) - See all my reviews

I would give this game 5 stars but for the intense system requirements. The box is lying to you. My son has a 600MHz Celeron system and this game barely runs. It is extremely annoying to wait for the graphics to draw. I tried it on my 1GHz Athlon system and it runs beautifully. The graphics are great and the game is really rich. There are a lot of characters and games within the game. Some of the sub-games: Whack-a-bot, Brick Dive, Jousting, Raging Bull, Snake Pursuit, Whack-a-Snake, Matching Mummies, Desert Speedster, Fishing, Bi-Plane, T-Rex Racing, Mr. Hates' Camp, Centrifuge, Parachute Training, Asteroid Belt... There's even a skateboard park. The really cool part of this game is that all of the sub-games are really well done and fun to play. My son has been on my computer for several hours today playing lots of the different games within the game. It's really a good game, but you need a system with lots of power to really enjoy it.

Not Impressed,
By David H. Carmer "Illjord" (Cary, NC) - See all my reviews

Normally, I have been a huge proponent of Lego products, including their Software. Lego Loco, Lego Racers, Lego Stunt Rally, and Lego Alpha Team are all superb products. Lego Island 2 is slow to load, finiky in dealing with hardware and device drivers, and does not always make the controls obvious to the user. For something aimed at children and parents without time to debug and installation, this is not a good choice. I feel Lego should be more careful about licensing their name, as this is not up to their usually very high standards.

This is a very exciting game but very hard to win. I haven't won yet but so far it has been very enjoyable. Youhave 3 worlds, Lego Island, Castle Island, and Adventure Island. Don't give the Brickster pizza, or he'll get out!

Update to my previous review,

Since I wrote my first review, I replaced the 600MHz Celeron processor in my son's computer with a 667MHz Pentium III. The game runs just fine on his system now. I think it would run just fine on any PIII system. The problem with the Celeron is that it runs on a 66MHz bus as opposed to the 100MHz or 133MHz bus of the PIII. Therefore, data flows much faster on a PIII and the game runs much smoother. I wouldn't run this game on a PII or Celeron system.

My Son (4 years old) and I really got into this game. This had a lot of places to see and after a while, he got a sense where things were spatically. I did have to play a few of the levels at first but then he was willing to try it and copy what I did.
It does take a while to load but you don't switch a lot of areas after you get past the first set of puzzles (which lets you off the island into a new area). You end up in a Knight's Kingdom world, Johnny Thunder character in a Lost World Jungle/Dinosaur place and finally a short jaunt into space. I wish there was a Island 3. BTW, Island 1 is terrible...

OK if you've plenty of PC Power,

I have never encountered such a system-demanding game. My 433 Celeron (plus 256MB SDRAM) and 16MB Blaster Banshee (with DX8-compatable Xpentor2 drivers) could barely cope with Lego Island 2. The game often crashes to the desktop. I had problems with using the keyboard controls too. The box lies about its system requirements.

Lego Island 2 Review,
By A Customer
This review is from: LEGO Island 2 (Toy)
I really enjoyed the game "Lego Island Two". I bought the first game about a year ago and have waited patiently for this to come out. My wait was not in vain. The joust with the Dark Knight was difficult, but I beat him and enjoyed doing so. I think this is an excellent game with good graphics. It was worth the wait.

I have the normal Lego Island, and if you have captured the brickster once or twice on that computer game, this should be the cd for you. The characters look TOTALLY different on Lego Island 2 compared to Lego Island. If you are a cd-maniac, this is your kind of cd.

If you've played Lego Island 1 and liked it wait till' you play this one! Interact with 56 Lego Island citizens and deliver pizza too.Extremely good graphics(though somtimes slow)and great gameplay! Also, this game takes up 650 MB of disk space so be sure to have some extra space on your hard drive.A very good game!

Resource Hog,

I have a P3 866MHz with 256MB Ram and this game choked the machine, nearly 800MB of disk space is required and the delay between levels is about 2 to 3 minutes. Several blue screen errors also resulting in a hard reboot. This game should be rated "frustration for the entire family". Also no on-line help but it does include a manual.
