Quite fun, great graphics!,

I really thought this game looked silly at first - but once I got to playing it, it's amazingly fun! You get All Three new Episodes of the movies with this game!
The little lego guys are absolutely adorable, and when ships blow up, they disintegrate into their component lego parts. Lego fans will be thrilled to see little lego flowers, lego swinging doors, and much more. The game is pretty true to the story line, which is funny in and of itself, watching the famous Star Wars scene done lego-style. You jump, shoot and light-saber your way through the scenes. You get to use a variety of characters, and each character of course has his or her own special talents. There's a lot of coin-collecting, secret-finding and bad guy bashing. There's an optional two player mode which is great - someone else can grab a controller, play for a while, then drop out without any penalty at all. There's a regular story mode for going through the movie plotline, plus a free play where you can randomly switch between various players to solve some of the trickier puzzles. There's a good deal of replayability as you go back searching for the treasures, and trying to unlock all of the cool extra features. This is really perfect for the munchkins, but adults may find themselves playing it after the little ones are asleep because it's actually rather fun. I was impressed with the graphics too - the little legos walk as you might imagine they would, the floors shine with great reflections, the textures are just very nice. There isn't much sound besides the Star Wars themes going on in the background :) I didn't have any problems with crashes at all, and if I ever do get bored with it, there's a line of people waiting to get it from me next. Highly recommended!

Brick Together the Jedi Force!,

This game is targeted at kids, but the first thing you'll discover upon playing it is adults will like it too. Yes it's easy, but it's still fun watching the little brick men do their thing Jedi style! Basically the game has the same kind of structures as The Simpsons: Hit and Run; you can play it to beat the level or you can play it to try and collect more points and bonus vechicles. The best feature on the game is by far the two player co-op mode. The game is easiest enough to beat without an extra person, but having one finding next to you is sure better than playing it alone. For the most part the game is loyal to the movies, although several scenes are missing.

This game is fun for the whole family. I figured at first that my little boy would be the only one to really play this game. My husband and I both thought it would be fun but we did'nt realize just how much fun until we are now hooked to playing it!!! The sounds of the light sabers are just like the real movie and the people all look just like real legos! The game is'nt very difficult but it holds your interest. There is over 30+ playable charaters to use. The game combines all 3 of the first movies in to one full game. I really like that about it, its like having 3 different games but for one price. There is tons of hidden things to find in this game. I highly recommend it for kids and adults!

Overall: Fun game, easy to play (there are unlimited lives and easy combat) and for others to join in. Neat concept; unfortunately, a bit short.
In more detail: This game is too short. I've played through every level in the span of a rental and played the same levels repeatedly in order to find all of the minikit pieces and collect enough money to buy everything. The short length of the game is reason enough to recommend renting instead of buying at this time. Don't buy unless you are a Star Wars fanatic or don't mind spending $40 for a game you will finish in a few days. More likely than not, the price will come down quickly. So I plan to wait until it comes down closer to $20 before buying and recommend the same to others. Cons: Too short. Can't skip through cut scenes (longer scenes get rather annoying after replaying levels); also it would be nice if the characters talked during the cut scenes, but Star Wars fans probably have most of the scenes memorized anyway. Multiplayer podracing is very frustrating since it is easy to confuse your vehicle with your friend's & one player can force the other off the screen or cause them to get stuck in a laser by moving too far ahead. The multiplayer should be splitscreen. It's too easy to cause your friend to get killed just by moving too far away, which can cause them to be pushed off ledges or be killed by unseen enemies. I got in way too many arguments with the people I played with because of it; apparently, I take gaming too seriously. When playing solo, the CGI can be a bit unhelpful as far as fighting enemies is concerned. Some of the characters do absolutely nothing. Pros: Multiplayer does have a lot of potential for fun as long as players don't get too angry when they cause one another to die. It's really easy and easy for people (even inexperienced gamers) to pick up and join you. A second player can enter or leave the game at any time. Younger people should be able to play it easily as well; not only will they enjoy it, but there's no mature content or blood, so it is appropriate for all ages. If there's any reason an adult wouldn't like it as well, it's more likely to be b/c he or she doesn't enjoy platform games in general and not because of the game being aimed at children. Also, there are a lot of extras you can buy (personally, the tea cups and the mustaches are the most entertaining) to make the game more interesting. If you become a Jedi Master in each level, you even unlock a fourth door marked with a question mark. I won't give it away, but the fourth door does allow you to unlock the last two characters available. The majority of the characters you can buy are cheap with a few exceptions (such as General Grievous who costs 200,000, but also happens to be one of the most awesome characters available)and money is easy to attain. Good soundtrack - very true to Star Wars. Load times are short. (And of course there is the appeal of everything being made out of LEGOS, which is just a nifty concept.) I suggest playing through the story mode as quickly as possible and then playing through the same level in free mode at a slower rate since you aren't going to be able to access every part of the level in story mode anyway (certain places are only reached by certain characters). A ton of security guards are a lot less frustrating when you can disguise yourself as one in free mode and kill them without taking any damage. As far as the characters go, they each do one (or sometimes more) of the following: use a light saber, use a blaster, jump high, crawl through vents, open doors, "fly", or grapple onto different ledges where there are red circles. This is why free mode is essential to fully exploring most levels. In free mode, you pick one character to be, but are given a group of others which you can flip through at any given time so that you have at least one character to serve each function. My favorite character to play with is General Greivous because he has four light sabers, is fast, and jumps high. Yoda is also good to play with, but harder to control. I also like Darth Maul and Darth Sidious though they can't jump as high as the general or Yoda.

Ok, so I myself am a LONGTIME gamer who is also a parent to a 3-year old boy and 1-year old girl. I enjoy complicated strategic types of games.
My wife and I purchased this game for my 3-year old son this past Christmas. I figured it would be a safe bet because it's age appropriate, has an easy control configuration, and good/cute graphics. Well I was absolutely right! You can play two players simultaneously. While some aspects of the game play are frustrating. (The main one being that if one player is going one way on the screen while the other is trying to go another it's like playing a game of "tug of war") But none the less, the fun of the game far outweighs that slight issue. My son has been playing the game for 4 days now and has mastered the control interface. Keep in mind, my son is only 3 years old and when I came home last night he had completed two levels on his own. (Though my son is sharp, he isn't a video game genius so I would expect a child of this age to be able to comprehend at the same level) So now that you know this game is playable by a 3-year old, I must also tell you that I enjoy playing it myself and I am 30. Again, I tend to go for the more complicated / strategic games such as the Splinter Cell series, Ghost Recons, and such Lego Star Wars is very fun. Though my 3 year old can muddle through levels on his own, there are other tasks you have to accomplish to unlock other parts of the game. Some level areas are too difficult for my son to get through and I end up having to help him. But what's nice is that we can both play this game together and have a good time. In summary, if you are looking for a good, age appropriate game that both yourself and your child can play, then Lego Star Wars is the ticket.

Revenge of the Bricks,

First a point of clarification: Lego Star Wars is not a game destined to go down in the annals of gaming history. It is not for the hardcore gamer. However, if you are a devoted fanboy of Star Wars, or Legos or Star Wars AND Legos, then this game will not disappoint.
First I shall talk about the many ways this game is a fanboy's delight. There is something very odd, yet astoundingly cool about seeing the Star Wars universe transformed into Legos. Every aspect of the game is tied to the bricks. When enemies (and your character) die, they shatter into lego pieces. Jedi have to use the force to build and break pieces. Every ship, building and character is built from bricks. It all works flawlessly and, thanks to good graphics, looks good too. Also, transforming the Star Wars movie into Legos adds a quirky sense of humor to the (in some people's opinions) sometimes lacking movies. Familiar scenes are fun to see skewed as Lego reimaginations. There is no dialogue, so all the little Lego guys communicate through facial expression and sound effects, and it works surprisingly well. For the Star Wars fanboy, you are set, if anything by the sheer number of playable characters. You can unlock almost any Jedi that has been in the prequel, and tons of other characters that all look great and sometimes hilarious as Legos. I'm pretty sure this is the only Star Wars game that you can play as Darth Maul, Darth Vader and The Emperor, not to mention a Gronk Driod, three versions of Obi-Wan, Yoda and of course, R2-D2. Gameplay wise, Lego Star Wars is a bit more complex than its look would mandate. Combat is simple, but effective. The game also has a very simple RPG feel, as you have a party of different characters that you must switch to at different times to perform different tasks. This is no Final Fantasy or KOTOR by any stretch of the imagination, but you do need to be mindful of having the right characters with you at the right times. It adds something to a game that could be seen as too juvenile. That brings up a good point. Lego Star Wars is marketed as a kids game. This will scare away the hardcore gamers, which is probably a good idea and just what the makers wanted. Hard core gamers who are not Star Wars fans probably should keep looking for a deeper, more challenging game. I am not a kid (per se) but I was still able to find a lot of enjoyment in this game. The most "kid-like" quality is that it is short. In a rental period, you could unlock pretty much anything worth unlocking. The saving replay factor is that every single level has the chance for cooperative multiplayer, so its a great game to have on your shelf when friends come over. Because its controls are simple and the story is familiar to almost everyone, its a great game for people that don't usually play video games. All in all Lego Star Wars is a fun great game. Though its not for everyone, its for anyone that likes Star Wars, Legos and accessible gaming.

This has got to be the best X-Box game for kids, ever! Our boys could not get enough! I would recommend this game to anyone with young kids. No language and no graphic violence since it's Star Wars and Legos.

I bought this game for my 9 yr old and 6 yr old. They love it and have a great time re-enacting the different movies through the lego action figures of the game. My 6 yr old has a little bit of a hard time playing but with his brother's help he's getting it. I like this game because 2 people can play at once together, this in my household elliminates fighting over the controllers and taking turns.

This is probably the best Stars Wars game made. As far as i'm concerened, any Stars WArs game where you get to use a lightsaber is the best (there are enough games with blasters). When you turn on the game you start out in Dexters Diner, a place where you chose your level and buy characters. You get to play through episodes 1,2 and 3.
WHats good is that if you haven't seen episode 3, the game doesn't spoil that much, it gives you enouggh info so that you know what you're doing in the game, but not enough to spoil the movie. While you are travelling through the star wars universes, you collect LEGO studs, the currency of the game. At dexters diner, you can buy characters with them. YOu can also buy hints and extras, but I think they are a waste of studs. After you collected enough characters from the light side and dark side, you can go out to ddexters parking lot to wacth and join unorganized fights. They are a little easy but fun. When you collect suds you're jedi meter fills up and if you fill it up to the top you will get a piece of a special ship. TO complete fill the jedi meter in every level. You also collectt mini kit parts which you can use to make ships to put in the parking lot. If you get every ship you will unlock the games ultimate secret (sorry i don't know what it is). A good way to collect studs is to get all the mini kit pieces in a level, which will give you about 50,000 studs. Try to complete the ones in boss levels because they are small levels and pieces are easy to find. |
