I'm an adult. I like LEGO sets, especially Star Wars LEGO. I admit it! Now that I got that out in the open, I must say that the LEGO Viking series has become my second favorite LEGO line. The dragons, the ships, the little Viking minifigs - all amazing. If you like LEGO sets too, or have a child who does, you or he or she will love this Viking ship. I also recommend the Viking Fortress and the Viking catapult set.

My 7 year old had a great time putting the ship together, but I have to agree with the other reviewer who mentioned the durability factor. Once the ship is together it needs to stay in one spot or it will fall apart. Quite frustrating for my guys who wanted to 'play' with it after it was built. Looks good up on the shelf though...

My 5 year old bought this toy with his birthday money. The figures are great and the weapon and dragon are awesome, however, the ship will not stay together. Every time my son plays with it, we have to rebuild it, making it not so much fun for any of us. It probably is fine for an older child who can fix the ship on their own, but if you have a younger child you may want to pass on this one.

Excellent Set, Flimsy Hull,

This set was one of the most fun builds I've done with Lego in a long time. As an adult fan of Lego, I highly recommend this set for its minifigures and part selection. They are excellent additions to any castle or general builder. As a builder, the final construction is impressive in size (18+ inches long), functionality (the rotisserie chicken is quite amusing), and playability (the sea serpent's posability and the incredible catapult alone are stunning). The catapult was my favorite part. After seeing the necrotic firing action of the Lego Exo-force Mobile Defense Tank's disk launcher; the rapid-fire, long-range Viking catapult is astonishingly fun to play with. The lone drawback in this set is the fragility of the ship's hull. It should be assembled on a hard surface (I tried to build it on carpet) and slid about on the floor, not carried (it will fold in half in the air). A few extra plate elements to reinforce the hull joints would probably improve this set.

My son and I had a great time building this beautiful ship, but shame on Lego for not putting a dislaimer on the box, "Not for Play, Only for Show!" You can't breath on this thing without the hull falling apart. You expect small pieces to fall off, but the backbone structure?. I will start tomorrow on some modifications (glue anyone) to make this thing an actual toy for a 7 year old with a great imagination. By the way, whatever happened to making your own designs with generic bricks?

This ship is the best in Lego quality. I have bought one and I completely enjoy it. You can have fun for a while(though parents might want their kids to do something else) and this set you can build and rebuild like all Legos. It is fun for any child!!!=)

First, I confess: I'm an adult and I love playing with Legos. Thus this ship was something of a disappointment. As other reviewers noted, it's very unstable; the hull wants to keep collapsing as you build on it. The dragon figurehead will fall off if you breathe on it. Since the set SEEMS to be designed to be played with -- i.e., fire the catapult, move the sea serpent, etc. -- I would think a child would be very disappointed in this as a toy. You can't play with it or even touch it. So it's reasonably fun to build but that's it -- it's definitely under par given Lego's usual attention to such details.

I have to say this set looks great: unique mini-figs and great design. However, it doesn't look so great after it arrived at my house without a brown shipping box. I guess I got what I paid for with my free shipping: shipping labels attached directly to the box, dented and torn box. Maybe some Vikings were working in the warehouse the day it shipped.
