Body Language: An Entertaining and Sensitive View of Relationships,
By Grady Harp (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (TOP 50 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Legs Talk: A Modern Girl's Dating Tale ( IPPY Bronze Award Winner - Best Gift Book ) (Paperback)
While some my dismiss this small sized book that weds (oops!) photography and psychology as just a funny diversion, author D.E. Boone and photographer Marc Burgess (with the assistance of the gorgeous gams of model Natsuko Koizumi) have taken a serious look at why our field of dating is so bumpy so often. Using a forum of balancing excellent black and white photographs of just legs (mostly female as this is a female point of view) opposite fragments of thought that tell the story of a failed relationship, Boone informs us of at least one vantage of evaluating why both the dating game and the need for connecting is often thwarted. The fact that such minimal visual and written information can pack such a wallop is refreshing. This is a very entertaining little reflection that is both very funny and very wise.
To say much more about the content of the 'story' would remove the punch from the book for new readers. Suffice it to say that this well designed, well considered tidbit of philosophy/psychology is a novel and clever art book that is guaranteed to provide chuckles as well as support for people awash in the contemporary field of dating - and a fine gift for friends who may be there, too! "You Break It, You buy It!",
By Amy E. Santos "High-Maintenance" (State of Perfection) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)

"You break it you buy it!"
How many times has the man you thought of as "the one" ended up just being a number in your little black book? From page one this book had me on my toes! It's like a girl's night in all packed in one adorable book! D.E. Boone is original and refreshing and tells it like it is! This book is something we all could use at some point in our life, and that is a fact. Heart-broken? We've all been and well all know the story and how we got there. It's timeless and I'd go as far to say a "classic" in it's own right. But you know what? I want to tell it again...as single women, when we look for a man, we dress-up, use our sensuality and "walk" with it so to say. There she is minding her own business, having a little "retail therapy" (which we all need by the way) and here he comes, could it be..Mr. Right? or should we say Mr. Right Now? I love a good story especially one I've lived through and can relate to one hundred percent! But when it's told a way so ingenious, edgy, and different that I've never seen it before, I am blown away! "Legs Talk: Let your Legs Do the Talking", is THAT book. We may know the story, but we certainly have never seen it narrated like this. A tale of girl meets guy, falls for guy, finds out he's not what he said he was, disappoints, disappears, reappears, girl gives him another chance only to be hurt again ...then what? We all swear the next one will be normal! Except for one thing, as normal as this story sounds, it's anything but! This beautiful black and white picture book is told from the waist down. That's right, this book is narrated by a par of sexy, gorgeous and sensuous legs. Have you ever been looking for that perfect gift book for a girl friend who just got dumped by the man of her dreams? Or maybe things just didn't work out between the two of them. And all you want is a little something to stop her from moping around and eating your entire pint of Ben and Jerry's? So what do you do? You rush out to the local bookstore and all you find sitting on the shelves are the "I'm so very sorry" books. Now to me ladies, in most cases, and even if you don't find out until later on, it's a blessing in disguise! So, why not celebrate? This book is how we as women can hold all the cards! We are sexy beings with intelligence, thoughts and feelings and isn't it about time we started to get treated like it? So go put on your high heels and "walk that walk" because you're a woman and thanks to this book, you'll celebrate it! Nancy Sinatra didn't hit Number One in 1966 with "These Boots Were Made for Walkin'" for nothing! Right? Thank you Mr. Boone, I totally got a kick out of this book and believe me, you will too!

A Beautiful Pair of Legs Can Tell A Powerful Story,
By
This review is from: Legs Talk: A Modern Girl's Dating Tale ( IPPY Bronze Award Winner - Best Gift Book ) (Paperback)
As the first review of March, I'd like to look forward to the coming Spring and Summer. The first flower blossoms have begun to peak their head above the frozen winter ground, and the birds have begun to sing. Change is in the air. And along with Spring comes a change in fashion. We put away the big puffy coats and winter clothing and bring out our Spring jackets, shorts, and skirts. Spring is also the time to show off our bodies - all those long hours spent in the gym getting trim and firm are about to pay off.
Legs are one of those parts of the body that come out after a winter of being covered up. Legs talk - they have attitude and swagger - and they attract attention. In Legs Talk by D.E. Boone, a pair of attention grabbing legs takes us on a photographic journey from Spring exposé, to courtship, to romance, to breakup, and back again. Using the exceptional photographs of Marc Burgess - and legs of model Natsuko Koizumi - Legs Talk is a book that shows us just how powerful a pair of legs can be. This is the perfect gift for anyone who appreciates the female form. Great as a little book for a friend, a gift for a party, or as a funny gag Legs Talk is a picture book with attitude. If you're fed up with the dating scene and need a good laugh about it, Legs Talk is the perfect get-over-him gift. The ending of the story is what will make them get-over-him, for not all legs are what they appear to be... [...]

Took me less than five minutes to 'read' this small book and to be honest its a bit cheesy and the photographs just arent that great. Cannot think of any young woman or any professional woman (18-40) who would buy the book much less like it. Doesnt mean its a bad book. Just not of interest to the women I know. And its shy $10, and around 8X6 inches in size. For $10 I can buy a number of better books on Amazon.com

Love stories told with photographs,
By Armchair Interviews (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Legs Talk: A Modern Girl's Dating Tale ( IPPY Bronze Award Winner - Best Gift Book ) (Paperback)
Finally, a "coffee table" book that will fit on your night stand. If your legs could talk they may be using the same fun, fresh dialog (with an attitude) the author uses to describe a love found and left behind.
This is truly a book where the pictures (in sharp black and white contrast) are worth a thousand words. Succinct, and to the point you can read this pithy visual relationship tale in less that ten minutes. Give Legs Talk as a gift, to women you know who have experienced love found and, on their own terms, left behind. Wit, comical dialog and wisdom are yours for a few minutes of your time. Armchair Interviews says: This short book is to the point about relationships.

Legs Talk-A Tour De Force,
By
This review is from: Legs Talk: A Modern Girl's Dating Tale ( IPPY Bronze Award Winner - Best Gift Book ) (Paperback)
As someone who loves musical improvisation, I appreciate Legs Talk
for its visual improvisations. Female legs are used to tell the raucously funny story of a love affair gone delightfully bad. The legs perfectly communicate every diss, threat, flirtatious whisper, and side-long glance. Even a dog becomes part of the fun! At the same time, the reader is left with a sense of optimism-that despite the many valleys in the woman's relationship with her man, dating is still a worthwhile, if sometimes hazardous endeavor. D.E. Boone has done a masterful job of choosing both the legs model, and the photographer. The stunning black-and-white photos, and the red-black lettering of the book's title, show the author's strong attention to detail; and a deep understanding of the classic romantic films that still move us today. In short, Legs Talk is one of the most enjoyable reads I've had in awhile. The even better news is that you can read it again and again, and always discover something new. Buy It. Read It, Love It. Share It. I recommend it highly.

What a quirky and clever book Legs Talk is. It's unlike anything I've read before: creative and novel, with a voice far from sugar-coated.

D. E. Boone's book "Legs Talk, let your legs do the talking is fantabulous. It is a book that will tantalize and stimulate you. It is precise and to the point, and it will allow you to get over a breakup faster. The book is so easy to read that you won't be able to put it down. Great job Boone.
