Leguleya No - Justo Betancourt,
By
This review is from: Leguleya No (Audio CD)
Gaby from: La Isla del Encanto Puerto Rico.

Not his best, but it's still Sr. Betancourt...,

This release definitely does not compare to Justo's prior output This was his last release for Fania...done fairly late in his career. It's certainly not anything of the caliber that came before it, but there are surely far worse releases out there by others. A "lesser-quality" release by Justo is still better than some "best" releases by others. So, that it mind, it's definitely something you should pick up and put in your catalogue, especially if you're a Justo completist. Good stuff all around in this release, just don't over-expect and you'll be happy.
This release also features Sonny Bravo on piano, along with Adalberto Santiago.

Very disappointing in comparison to his 1970s classics.,

This was Justo's final Fania release and it lacks the excellent material and superb production that were hallmarks of his classic 1970s albums such as "Pa Bravo Yo", "Distinto Y Diferente" and "Lo Sabemos". Vocally, Justo does give some good performances but they don't really compensate for the poor production and lacklustre material.
