5.0 out of 5 stars Splendid, Though Expensive, 90mmm Lens for Leica M Rangefinder Cameras, September 10, 2005
This review is from: Leica 90mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M Telephoto Manual Focus Lens for M System (11807) (Electronics)
The Leica 90mm f2.8 Elmarit-M lens was among the first of Leica's new lens designs; it is also one of the finest medium telephoto lenses ever produced. It is based on the 90mm f4 Elmar-C (Or 90mm f4 Leitz Rokkor which Leica had made for Minolta - I own this version and remain impressed by its excellent optical quality.) lens made for the Leica CL, which is still reputed to be among the finest telephoto lenses Leica has ever made for its M mount rangefinder cameras. This lens is almost as fine optically as the 90mm f2 APO Summicron lens, though lacks the latter's excellence with regards to contrast and resolution at the maximum lens aperture of f2.8. Those in search of a relatively inexpensive Leica telephoto lens for their rangefinder cameras will not be disappointed with the Elmarit, and may find it more preferably, since it is smaller, more compact, and weighs less than the Summicron.
