Customer Reviews

The cloth mop did a great job trapping dirt in its fibers.
Jaime Vendera
So I can't fault it for sturdiness or features: the assembly is solid and the water bucket contraption is well made and easy to use.

The big proclamation for this pricey mop "system" is that you don't get your hands in the dirty mop water.

This takes the mop to a new level, like that of a BMW. It's so incredibly overengineered...really! I mean, it's a mop. Yet they've made a product that keeps your hands clean, allows you to rinse and reuse the mop head, and clean in less time. But it's SO over the top as far as design. So I can't fault it for sturdiness or features: the assembly is solid and the water bucket contraption is well made and easy to use.

But, does a mop NEED this much plastic? The tub could be a foot bath as well, it's so big. So you have to consider, do I have a place to store all this? Am I going to have to lift this heavy thing up to dump out the dirty water (yes)? It's 8 liters of capacity---unless you are moping the White House, do you need that much water?

It's part of a cleaning system that features different mop heads for wood floors, exterior, etc. If you had all the parts it could be more useful. But comparing this to my existing Swiffer mop with disposable wet cloths (and which hangs in a tiny space), I can't help but feel like this is overkill.

Additionally, there are no instructions. You'd think with a MOP, that they wouldn't be necessary. Yet, parts of the assembly are confusing. On the box is very few English words, which is fine, but led to a few laughs. "Ideal fur Treppenstufen" is one that translates to Ideal for Stair Steps-we thought it was Ideal for Trapping Stuff In. (LOL)

Other features are the long handle (my Swiffer is too short) and the wide mop head that covers more ground. They even show a little diagram of how to walk around the room for (I'm assuming here) best coverage (swirly W shape).

So, if you have money to burn and place to store this very large mop bucket, you won't be disappointed. If you're like me on a limited budget and no free space, get a Swiffer instead and go out to dinner.

I hope you find this review helpful!

Assembly

First problem was that there were no instructions. There were pictures on the box but that was it. Putting the pole together wasn't bad, though one connection took more arm power than I had to make it really secure. The mop head had to be attached to the pole and it wasn't immediately clear which end went where. One end had to be put on with some attached plastic clips while the other slipped over a frame. Finally the picture on the box made it clear which side needed to be put on with the clips, so save the box.

Each component of the machine is very good quality. The mop is quite nice, of good size and it seems sturdy and well put together. The bucket is very good, it comes in two parts: the lower one can be separated so it is much lighter to lift and fill with water. The upper part, the wringer, latches on with a good strong latch together they are however quite heavy.

Use

The actual use of the equipment is not bad but not quite satisfactory. You have to detach one end of the mop (presumably with you foot) from the frame and dip the fabric into the water and then lift it and fold it into the wringer apparatus. You can hold the bucket down while you pull the mop through, but it seemed a bit unsteady and I was concerned it would turn over. Once you pull the mop out you can easily reattach it to the frame without touching it and continue mopping. The mop moves nicely and covers a good area at one time...but as I mopped it did begin to lose its shape somewhat and became a little harder to handle. One other issue is there is no mechanism to collect or pull up the debris the mop collects as you go through the process. That may be expecting too much however. All in all well made but maybe more trouble than it's worth.

The biggest problem is that currently it is more work to use than it is worth, and will probably not replace my sponge mop.

The first time I tried Leifheit products, I was really impressed with the quality. This Mop set is not the exception.

The mop:
It's about 57" tall and the cleaning surface is 18" x 6". Makes it a bit larger than the regular mop, which means you will have to `bend' less to reach underneath small places and mop large areas quickly.
It comes with the Profi Micro duo pad. I tried it on tile with a regular Mr. Clean floor cleaner and it worked so nicely. I also tried it on wood floor and it's a magnet for dust! Throw it in the washing machine and you're ready for the next time.

The mop press:
Very convenient size! Not bulky like some industrial type buckets. It is about 17" x 8" and about a foot tall. It is narrow enough that you can place it almost anywhere in your cleaning closet (can also stand on its narrow side). It really squeezes dry! I had to be careful not to squeeze so much because I would end up with no cleaner on the pad at all! Just be sure to place the wire in the press slots to get all the fiber in it.

Overall:
It's a very practical mop set (especially for people with weak wrists/hands), except that the replacement pads are a bit pricey. Hope they last a good while.

Apparently Leifheit makes two versions of this product. One is a shipping friendly design that has a 5 piece handle, while the other is a telescoping pole handle. The 5 piece handle is very flimsy, which makes it very difficult to mop well. As a result, we ended up dishing out an extra $40 to order the telescoping handle directly from Leifheit. Not sure if Amazon sells the other version, so keep this in mind before you buy. The bucket itself is great.
