Mop with a Twist,

I recently got this Leifheit mop and contrary to the 1-star reviewer I quite like it. I did not find it hard to put together (you screw together the individual parts of the handle and insert the mop part, really not too challenging). I also think the bucket as well as the mop are of regular size. The reason it might seem to be smaller is that it has this insert in the bucket to spin the mop to the desired level of dryness but that's all. The mop is not huge, that is true, but it is of regular size and suitable for normal mopping jobs. If you happen to live in a mansion with a hotel-size entrance hall, you might want to get a different product as that would seem daunting but if you do not, this is not too small in my opinion and sufficient for normal-size kitchens and bathrooms.
I love the spinning/drying action of this product. All you do is soak the mop in the bucket and then put the mop head in the 'centrifuge' or spinner, press down on the handle, and voila, the mop head starts spinning and excess water is removed. I am not quite sure how it works, I am not a technical person (there are no batteries involved, and it seems a bit like a spin top toy), but in the end all I care about is that I do not have to wring this out manually but can just let this mechanism do the job, which gets the mop much drier anyway than I ever could with wringing it. Also, I've had occasional issues with painful thumbs and wrists (from typing), and so this works especially well in these circumstances as I do not have to twist my wrists/thumbs. The only thing that I miss a bit is an actual bucket handle. The manufacturer states that you should grab the bucket on the inside of the spin insert, but I am just not too sure how well this will work in the long run, especially when the bucket is full and heavy. So far it has worked ok but then again I have not had the mop long enough to know how the plastic would hold up after months or years of doing so. (UPDATE 11/2010: I have now carried the bucket by holding onto the spin insert since buying this 11 months ago and have not had any issues, so I guess it works fine, even without a traditional handle). All in all, I like its convenience a lot and am thinking of buying another one for my upstairs.

This is the best mop I've ever used. All you have to do is put the wet mop on top (in the holder), push down on the mop handle and the mop starts spinning very fast. No more struggling with wringing out a mop. The mop is almost dry. It was easy to put together. My only complaint is that the mop bucket doesn't have a handle. The product description stated "handled bucket". I called the company, left a message and waiting for their response.

Thank you for making my life easier. I dreaded cleaning my floors until I used this mop for the first time. You don't have to fill bucket up to water level if you are having too much pain in your wrists. The greatest part of using this mop is that YOU DON'T HAVE TO SQUEEZE THE WATER OUT OF THE MOP. It is amazing how you don't have to touch this mop to be able to get all the water (or most of the water) out of the mop. It does the same job than someone who is able to squeeze a mop. Bucket is perfect size for my rooms, which are mostly 12x14.

This is a high quality mop set. The spin mechanism is a smooth action that rings out as much moisture as you want. This feature is desirable as you can damp mop hard wood floors w/o leaving streaks or water spots. The mop is normal sized and the plastic is very high quality. It does not have a traditional handle; however I am finding the manner which you carry this is less stressful on your wrist. Not having a handle prevents getting inadvertantly hooked on to somthing like a door knob as you go room to room. Everything is very easy to put together. The handle does not come apart once you snap it together - this was designed to make it more compact for shipping but it is, never the less, very sturdy. This mop makes the job of cleaning floors a breeze. Made in Czech Republic. Leifheit 55400 Twister Strip Mop with Handled Bucket

Best mop I have ever purchased!,

I am in the Military and I have been deployed 3 times. This mop is perfect for my room. It's small and you dont have to replace the mop head after each use. ( I don't know how often you would cause I have only used it a few times) I let my Soldier borrow my mop last night, now she wants one. I am now purchasing her one for Christmas! We love the fact that you don't have to do any hard work, you just place it into the wringer and gently press down. Another good thing is it ships to an APO address. Most of all the mops that I was interested in did not ship to APO.

It came in the mail with some assembly required - not much, the mop came in like five pieces that clicked together, and the top and handle for the bucket also needed to be clicked together. All done within two minutes. Not bad.The mop itself is quite nice, and does a good job. The top feature of this set, though is the spinning action of the mop and bucket, which allows you to quickly and easily wring out the mop, leaving as much or as little water as you want. This feature works very well indeed. I have found that it works very well for hardwood or tile floors. What can I say? I am quite pleased. It's a very nice mop and bucket to have around the house! Pretty amazing 3 year warranty. My prior cheap bucket's plastic broke in under a year. I hate housework--so the faster the better. My primary goal is to remove lint and dust particles, not a shiny wooden floor, as I suffer from allergies.PLUSES-- Highly maneuverable, because is light weight in compared to traditional mophead or to a vacume head, and this mophead's lighter weight fabric is far easier to control direction than a slurppy traditional mophead's head. This maneuverability saves time, as it allows easier reach of corners and crevices and for under-the-bed obstructions. Tedious hand squeezing of a mop is eliminated. Faster than a vacume cleaner brush at picking up dust because reaches tight corners and crevices easier. Far superior to the mops that use an attached disposable fabric end, which always felt flimsy to me. MINUSES-- Doesn't hold dampness or pick up as well as traditional mopheads. Traditional mopheads will be faster on large open surfaces where amount of water carried and amount of debris picked up are more important. OVERALL-- A fast, maneuverable mop suitable for most bedrooms and surfaces with many obstructions. Regular mophead will be more efficient for large open floors.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I've needed a good mop for some time and my boyfriend was nice enough to buy one for me during his stay at my place, however, it was too big and bulky for me to effectively use without quickly becoming fatigued (I'm a bit of a light weight). I keep it down in the basement now by the de-humidifer that sometimes leaks, just to mop up it up as needed. This mop is a bit smaller then the one he got me and not as heavy. I can clean my kitchen floors and hallway without much effort and it does a far better job then the swifter style push mop I had been using in the interim. I was expecting it to arrive in a much larger box then it came in... but that's because there is some assembly required. Putting this together was not difficult or time consuming. Very happy with the mop and bucket combo and have used it often for a few weeks now without any problems. Hoping it continues to hold up :)

I read some of the other reviews that mentioned that the bucket does not have a traditional handle. Mine does have a sturdy metal handle, so they must have decided to add one. The mop and bucket went together easily enough, and I've used it a few times on the tile floor in the kitchen. Spinning the water out each time is easy to do, just push the mop into the spinner until it engages and begins to spin. This enables you to damp mop the floor so it dries much quicker than if you used a saturated mop. I also like the fact that you don't have to touch any dirty water. When finished, you can fill the bucket with clean water, swish out your mop, spin it nearly dry and then I hang it from a hook in the garage to finish drying. I like it because it's light and handy to use, but I have a small house. If you had a lot of floor area to mop, you might want to invest in a heavier duty mop and bucket. I was hoping that the handle could be taken apart again so I could take it with us and store it easily in the camper this summer, but I think it may be permanently fastened together. I couldn't get it to come apart again and didn't want to force it. The handle is fairly sturdy for having so many sections, but there is a bit of jiggle to it which might bother some. Overall, I'm pleased with it and see no reason to keep my old mop.

Through the years, I owned a number of mop buckets. A couple of them are still in use. I have one that wrings out the mop between rollers; another employs a press connected to a handle. This Leifheit 55400 Twister Strip Mop uses centrifugal force to wring out the mop. This mop and bucket set comes with a plastic bucket measuring 8" X 13" X 10-1/2" tall. A "mop twister" is permanently attached to the bucket. It resembles a spinning basket. Assembly of the set is reasonably simple. The user assembles the mop handle by snapping 4 separate sections together. They are numbered. There is great temptation to strike the sections so that they will snap together but don't. I did so against the carpet and broke something inside the handle. Just be patient and push as hard as you can. Snap the microfiber mop head onto the "Clean-Twist-Element". This clean-twist-element is the spinning mechanism. Give the mop head an extra push to seat it tightly, then screw the clean-twist-element with the mop head onto the handle. Snap the plastic "cover/receiver" onto the bucket above the twister. Install the metal bucket handle and this mop and bucket set is ready for use. To wring out the mop, insert the clean-twist-element with the wet mop head into the cover/receiver of the mop twister, verify that the clean-twist-element is locked in place, and pump the handle up and down repeatedly. The mop head spins vigorously and dries by centrifugal force. It is neat. However, I noticed that I had to change the water more frequently than when I was using my other mop buckets because I could only add water up to the bottom of the mop twister. That was slightly over 1/3 of the bucket capacity. I like this Leifheit 55400 Twister Strip Mop and Bucket set. I just wish that the handle didn't break so easily.Note: I fixed the handle with a few dabs of super-glue. |
