4.0 out of 5 stars Not the same Larry, but perfectly enjoyable as its own game.
I've read a lot of long time LSL fans pretty much trashing this game because it's nothing like the original set that made the series so popular. This is completely understandable for any long-term fans of any long-term series. The moment it deviates too far from the original material, it's easy to get up in arms.

1.0 out of 5 stars Major Dissappointment...
Interesting how an advantage of a known name (Larry) was taken to produce a game that doesn't match any of the previous game series. This game is a major dissappointment, not because it is bad overally, but because it is bad AND it is a LARRY.

To sum up:

Interesting how an advantage of a known name (Larry) was taken to produce a game that doesn't match any of the previous game series. This game is a major dissappointment, not because it is bad overally, but because it is bad AND it is a LARRY.

To sum up:

* In order to save, you will really hate this game. Perhaps they didn't believe that anyone is going to replay this game - so they didn't include an easy save feature.

* No mouse. Yes, keyboard only. And the controls are somewhat broken.

* Ugly women. Really ugly. At least, in LSL 8 (which was also not good) the women were kind of attractive. Here they are not even interesting.

* Camera constantly changes. Remember Alone in the Dark 1? Like that, only here you can't also find where you are, especially in arcade missions. And Alone in the Dark 1 was a masterpiece all right, absolutely no match with this 15+ year later one.

* No "Larry" atmosphere. Older Larry games were fun, full of nice quotes, and sexism all over the place. What do we have here ? A game with good graphics and voices all right, but nothing resembles an old Larry game.

* No nudity or sex. Is this a 17+ game ? Perhaps an 7+. It has some swearing all right, only to try to convince you that it is a Larry. Not fun at all.

Is there any chance that you will like this game? Perhaps, If you do not know until now what Larry means.

In short, If you are expecting a Larry, I am sorry. If you want to try it, go buy it, but you have been warned. As others say, this game is simply an insult to what "Leasure Suit Larry" once was. Mr Al Lowe, please come back.

If you are an original LSL fan, as I am, forget this one.
This is probably the worst game ever produced.
Horrible story line, horrible graphics, horrible control, and very boring.
It has no resemblence to the original Larry series and it's obvious that Al Lowe had nothing to do with this game.
If you would like Mario Bros with adult language then this is the game for you.
Box Office Bust is an insult to what Leisure Suit Larry once was.

I miss the old LSL! COME BACK! The last one was rather awful as well, but at least it was playable. The controls on this game are terrible and I thought this was supposed to be an adult game. I will forgoe all the cussing for a little bit of adult content!

Just how bad is Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust:
It's as bad as your mind will allow you to comprehend.

Bad games are released all the time, and some are worse than others. This is nothing new. However, it really takes a special kind of awful to be considered one of the worst games ever made. So when this special kind of awful makes an appearance, it's truly something to behold. Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust. Not only is it almost completely broken and blatantly unfinished in nearly every way, but even if it weren't, there's so little of an actual game to be found here that it would still be terrible. Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is a game so astoundingly bad that it manages to transcend nearly every boundary put forth by some of gaming's absolute worst of the worst and easily makes it into that dubiouslyextraordinary category of being one of the most atrocious games ever published.

If the goal was to create the world's most broken game, then Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is a resounding success.

Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust' first and most grievous issue lies in its gameplay. Specifically, there isn't any.

In theory, Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is supposed to be a adventure game based on Leisure Suit Larry: At least, this is what the back of the game's box would have you believe. Let us make it very clear that these statements are all horrible, horrible lies. There is no coherent goal in Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust.In fact, there really isn't anything much in the game.

But let's assume for a moment that the game actually worked. Even if this were the case, the game still wouldn't be worth playing in the slightest.

Please do not play this game. I cannot stress this enough.

The graphical problems don't stop Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is easily one of the worst-looking PC games released in years. The models are amazingly terrible. The environments all look bad, too, what with their incredibly nasty-looking textures, their ugly and meaningless set pieces.

As for the game's sound design, there isn't any. There are literally no good sound effects in Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust. And on a midrange PC, I couldn't even get them to play.

Just how bad is Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust? It's as bad as your mind will allow you to comprehend. It is so disturbingly bad that even its budget price tag seems like a slap in the face. It really makes you wonder if the company that put out this dreck even took so much as a half minute to glance at the game that it was releasing. The game's readme file does assert that the game was thoroughly tested on various PCs, but the end result seems to suggest otherwise. The fact is, even if you tried, you couldn't play Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust the way it was seemingly intended to be played, and even if you could, you wouldn't want to.

1.0 out of 5 stars How bad is bad?, April 3, 2010

I have a friend who means well and knows what I like. Well, sort of. When my friend hooked me up with this I really have to have a serious talk with my friend.

As someone who enjoys oldskool games it's practically a given that Sierra's classic franchises are adored by me. The "Leisure Suit Larry" series, while the weakest franchise, is quite funny in its own way and even its weakest entries are still good. That is before Sierra closed down and became a brand of Vivendi-Universal.

I never played "Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude" so I can't comment on its quality. But after trying to play "Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust" it just cemented the idea that corporations should really consult the original creator (Al Lowe) before even designing (much less publishing) a game like this. I know for a fact that Al wasn't involved in the production of either of these games whatsoever. In fact he's pleased not to be associated with "Box Office Bust"

How bad is this game? It's to humorous adventure games as "Superman 64" is to 3D-action games. It is just so wrong! Have ANY of the people involved with this project ever played a "Leisure Suit Larry" game to begin with? Or did they feel that it was enough experience to just play with thems...oh, I'm NOT going to complete that!

This isn't just plain bad. It's the last handful of crap piled onto the dungheap of a once-revered franchise. Keep your hands away from this stinky mess. And have a one-to-one with your friend who thought this was a good "gift".

Really sad when they try to bring back an old classic and the only thing they bring back is the name. At least if they used the theme song...

Before they even start a new release, they need to have the coders and writers sit in a room and do nothing but play the originals for at least a month.

This game is completely horrible. The controls are awkward and it takes forever to load. I was hoping this game would be as great as the last Larry game I purchased (Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude Uncut and Uncensored which is an awesome game!), but I was really, really disappointed with Box Office Bust.

This game could have been a lot of fun if it was not so hard at certain places. I am currently stuck at a point in the game and can not complete it. I finally gave up. It would have been nice if the puzzles got easier with failures like the Magna Cum Laude so I can get through it.

Hmmmm where do I start?

1) Let's just talk about the game requirements I don't know why, but the game seems really slow on my quad core....

2)I really like the inginuity they brought forth with the humor and also the voice acting, it's first class

3) No nudity, well, is there easter eggs?
