Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

The bag itself is fantastic.
Judge Jodi Jacobs
The material is very stiff, and it's very difficult (basically impossible) to get all the air out of the bag.

This works like a dream for liquids in the sous vide machine.

I like the idea of reusing this clear bag, but it's too small for most items. It can hold a little more than 1 cup of sliced vegetables, but is too small to marinate a chicken or a piece of meat. It's even too small to hold a sandwich. I wish it came in double or triple the size. A silicone bag is an interesting concept, has a lot of potential, but product needs refining.

Pros:
- Reusable
- Transparent so you can see inside items
- Food safe (BPA free)
- Bag stands up on its own while it is filled.
- Good for small food quantities such as nuts and chopped vegetables.
- Can be used over and over again unlike disposable zip top bags.
- Thick silicone so product seems like it will last.

Cons:
- Too small for many practical uses.
- Sliding mechanism to close bag is a little cumbersome to use.
- It's an odd shape. The bottom of the bag is rounded rather than straight - so you can't put a bag of deli meat or a sandwich in it. (Bag is too small.)

I purchased this simply for storage and as such it has worked wonderfully for me. I am trying to eliminate plastic from my life and this bag was such a treat for me to find. I use it in place of ziploc bags that I would normally use to store things like leaky hot dog packages. It washes beautifully in the dishwasher too.

are great invention for cooks in small kitchens especially: compact, versatile, useable in all the mediums advertised, ideal for people that like things organized. i just wish they were 2 liters, a little too small for all my purposes. but i love that i finally have a bag that stands on its own while filling ... great for soups.

This is a heavy silicone pouch. I've used it for leftovers and storage now a few times. Works well and cleans up easily. The plastic stealer does not come in contact with any food. Just be sure to slide it the correct way. If you try it backwards it does not work. Noticed an arrow on the bag portion and revealed perfectly...enjoy!!!

I bought these because I freeze homemade soups, stews, stocks, chilis, meat sauces, and meal portions all the time, and the size (up to FOUR CUPS) and use is perfect for this. They stand up well on the counter to ladle in the contents, they seal well and don't leak. I used to use plastic quart sized deli cups, and the Leuke Fresh Bags are a perfect substitute. I don't feel comfortable with glass, because of the possibility of cracking in freezing and changing temperatures (even if you take the precaution to leave space at the top), plus there is no easy and safe way to quickly thaw contents in glass. These also take up a lot less room in my NYC-sized apartment.

To thaw, I don't use a microwave. Instead, I use one of two easy methods. I either simply run hot tap water over the bag to loosen and pop the contents right out into my pot, or I put the bag into a pot of simmering water to soften the frozen contents enough to loosen, and then plop it into the empty pot to finish unthawing and heating.

The only drawback is that they do stain. But for non-plastic infused food, I can live with that.

About price....these are expensive, but for me they are well-used, and well-worth it. I have gotten them cheaper by waiting for a sale on one of the cooking sites and buying a bunch at once, now that they are available in more places. You should never pay more than $15 each, which seems to be the going price right now, but a sale brings them down further.

Pros:
-Food Safe (not just BPA free, but plastic and petroleum-free). Don't be fooled by "BPA-Free" plastics.

Well recently I decided to get into sous-vide cooking, and since we've really been loving the results, I've been doing it more and more, but it's a waste to go through the zip top or vacuum seal bags- you'd think there would be a good solution- enter this thing. Seems like a great option, all silicon, totally food safe, and you can even wash the bag (NOT the top closure part) in the dishwasher.

Unfortunately, here's where reality kicks in. Although a great concept, the bag doesn't give you an airtight seal, and it's only going to work for a single steak, maybe two chicken breast if you are lucky. The biggest issue is really the seal. You CANNOT get the bag to seal, even with the closure piece fully on- making it worthless for Sous Vide.

With that being said, I have started to at least use it to marinade my meats, and as long as you are careful with the liquid volume and positioning, it does do the trick for that, and I can use less liquid than I would with a regular tupperware box.

In summary, I'd say don't buy it for sous vide, and it's a bit spendy to just replace zip top bags with for marinade, but it is more green and cheaper in the long term for that purpose, which is why I wound up giving a three star rating.

It seals ok, but it is not hermetic. Cooking with it works, but if you're going to use it in the oven, you'd best have something underneath it if you want to keep things clean. Overall, it is a good product, I just wish the seal was better.
