Looking nothing like traditional bakeware but borrowing many of its best characteristics, Lekue's heart-shaped cake pan cooks evenly, releases food easily, and is made of FDA approved food grade silicone. It takes some getting used to, but the pliable silicone construction carries many advantages such as immediate cool-down, the prevention of burnt edges and crusts, and a foldability that extends storage options. Cooking times may be slightly shorter and the versatile pan comfortably handles everything from sweet cakes to savory casseroles or gratins. Nonstick surfaces help food to release easily but greasing is still recommended--especially if regularly being washed in the dishwasher. Freezer-, microwave-, and oven-safe up to 500 degrees F, the pan seamlessly transitions from cold to hot and back again if needed. Contact with direct heat sources such as burners or hotplates should be avoided and sharp metal tools can damage or cut the material. Had never used this type of pan before and was very concerned about the outcome. It worked exactly as advertised and actually produced much better results than I had obtained previously with glass or metal pans. It cooked evenly and there was no sticking and very easy to clean. An outstanding product.

This product is great-- works exactly as advertised so I have no regrets about this purchase. I use it every Valentine's Day to make a heart-shaped dessert. I used it in the oven, as well as made a frozen dish. It's held up in both the hot and cold temperatures. It cleans very well.

Tip: Use parchment paper at the very bottom to ensure your creation does not stick at all.

We use these cake pans to make hand and feet cast molds in the childrens hospital locally when a baby or child dies. Had a hard time finding the appropriate sizes, but these are perfect. Should last for years.
