hot hot hot,

This is the best piano album to come along since Harry Conick's 20 album. Parker Paul's blend of hot jazzy tunes and classical playing style is like nothing on the music scene today. The lemon lime room leaves the listner with a strangely rich sensation of cool laid back electricty. This album is a must for any person who really loves music.

you'll be amazed at what a little persistance can yield,

this is the first of parker paul's two albums to date, and in my opinion, slightly better than the second. very bare bones, just parker's voice and his piano stylings, and his voice is very original-- he pays much more attention to emotion and sincerity than pitch, to be perfectly honest, but after a couple of listenings you'll adjust, and then it's absolutely magnificent. one of the wonders of this album is its pacing-- one you make it through track 3, "we miss our lady," it only gets better and better. "sin, sin" might be my favorite track (it's just the right combination of clever and sassy), and the silver jews cover "pet politics" is fantastic, too. "sandy," the final track, is instrumental, and a really moving endcap to the album if you've worked through all the preceding songs.if i had to sum up this album in a word, it'd be "sincere," though it never lacks wit or energy for it. definitely worth giving a shot, at the very least. the sort of thing you can listen to over and over without tiring of it. |
