NOT the same version as available for download.,
By "sillygirrrl" (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lemonade Tycoon (CD-ROM)
I got addictd to the free download from Yahoo games and decided to order it from here.I wish I had understood/listened to the other reviewers, they're right. This is NOT the same version you can download! The download version is apparantly a "deluxe" version, and has much more capabilitiy and fun-factor. The differences--- There are less "upgrades" to save up to buy (less kinds of lemonade stands, juicers, ice makers, etc.) and you don't have the ability to hire any staff. I'd recommend either buying it through yahoo or search around google for a free version/code for it until they are willing to sell an equal or better version on CD of what you can download free! My advice, if you like having more toys/bells and whistles to play with, do NOT buy this version on CD from ....., you'll be disappointed. All versions are not made equal, and in this case, free is truly better, all the way around.

Boring to Better,
This review is from: Lemonade Tycoon (CD-ROM)
The first time I ever played this game was with the demo version, a 60min trial. At first I was just kind of annoyed with it, and after about 40min gave up and found something else to do. Then, it hit me, the urge to play it, and that's what I did. However when I downloaded the demo, I knew nothing about the 60min trial period, and so with 20min left, the time went by pretty quickly. When it ended I was prompted with the "buy your version now" screen, which was only a downloadable version. In my opinion, I'd rather own the game itself than have to download it. If you ever had to reformat your computer, then you would have to go through the process of proving that you bought it, which can just be a disaster sometimes. Well, needless to say, I finally found the version that you can actually buy and own, and so I got it. Unlike some reviews, it was rather easy to figure out. I'm sure if I set it in front of my 4 and 5 year old cousins, they would figure it out in a matter of minutes. This game is pretty amusing, and somewhat addictive as well. I've had a lot of fun with it so far. I'm sure I'll get sick of it, but it's one of those games that you will want to keep coming back to. The game is pretty simple, yet gives you hours of continuous enjoyment. I recomend this game to just about everyone. (Just about everyone else - if you think too deeply into things, then you may not be satisfied with this game, and will probably never figure out how to play it - like some of the reviewers here). This game has good graphics and sound, but is somewhat of a break from all the new high-tech games out right now. It's simple and fun.

Not the same,

This game is not the same as the free download on Yahoo. Don't waste your money on another Learning Company scheme to deceive the consumer. The game play is slower, with less features as the free version on Yahoo, and there are bugs in it. I called tech support at Learning Company, and what a waste of time that was.

It was fun at first.....,
This review is from: Lemonade Tycoon (CD-ROM)
actually, it's less fun than the demo....the "full version" has less feature than the demo that i downloaded from yahoo games: less map, less utility to upgrade, can't hire employees........how can this happen? it get's really boring after you did all the upgrades and nothing to change.

This game is so fun!,

This review is from: Lemonade Tycoon (CD-ROM)
I am addicted! My 4 year old plays right alongside helping me order supplies, change the location, etc. He loves watching the people's reaction when they walk away. I have been playing nonstop for 2 days now. LOVE IT!!! Contrary to what other reviewers have said, this game is NOT boring. I guess maybe compared to a game where you are constantly killing people, it may appear boring, but it depends what you are in to.

I was disappointed that this version did not have the extras like more options to buy and staff to hire. Be careful which version you buy!

So boring, it should be called Boring Tycoon,

This game truly is the worst tycoon games I've ever seen! The graphics are horrible (it's almost impossible to tell the alphabets apart), the sound is awful and sometimes there's no sound at all (unless it's raining). You can't even see your own character and the only expressions that you can get from the customer for your lemonade are:
-bad -good -too much sugar -too expensive 9/10 times, the customer will think you make really bad lemonade which is very very frustrating. For example, I tried nearly 40 times before I found the right recipe for the lemonade. Which by the way is all the sugars, all the lemonade and all the ice cubes. Another thing that I find very annoying about this game is its repetitive buying of ingredients. You can't buy too much but you also can't buy too little. For example, if you buy 200 ice cubes, they will melt but if you buy too little, you will go out of stock. I still haven't figured out the point of having the LSX (lemonade stock exchange). I think it's just there for no obvious reasons. And also, you don't have any opponent. Your opponent is yourself. That is, when you load the game you have to chose all the company names (which would become your opponent). For instance, if you chose WWW for your company name then you have to type in yourself your opponent's company name. Say if you chose EEE, then you have to first be EEE and then be WWW so WWW would have an opponent in the LSX. I do not understand the point of doing this. The senarios are also really stupid. For example, a scenario would be something like: - National high temperature - Citizens raid Town centre etc. I hope my review was helpful to you. Please do not buy! It's for your own good.

Good For About Two Minutes,

This review is from: Lemonade Tycoon (CD-ROM)
This game will keep you occupied for about two minutes. Then it get boring. After getting the upgrades (and there are only a few) and going to the different venues, it's just the same thing over and over. I doubt it was worth the $9.00 I paid for it.

Relaxing game,

I really liked this game because it teaches the basics of business instead of making all the rules complicated. One step at a time learned business rules take a businessman a long way.

Whoever said the CD isn't as fun as the demo is completely right. There are several features in the demo, like many upgrades available to the stand, that aren't included in the real game, which kind of pissed me off. I haven't played it since the first day I bought it because of the features that were left out. I would NOT recommend buying this game, if only because of the deceit of the demo.
