Innocently Retro,

Innocently retro, this band is great. They lack or lacked the arrogance of western bands and this combined with their Russian modesty and shyness gives excellent performers. Their songs hardly original but their performances are! For good or bad, the western style of living had attained a mythical status in the USSR. These people handled these songs, written and traditionally performed by western artists, with respect -- very important. Perhaps I am a little bit biased because I have also seen the film they made with Aki Kaurismaki (finnish) called: "Leningrad Cowboys go America" They are very good! Probably the only people that have retained the word "Leningrad"!
