5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent iPOD Touch and Cell Phone Recharger
I have enjoyed using the Lenmar PowerPort Mini since receiving it a few weeks ago. It more than lives up to the description on the LenMar web site. I have a 16GB iPOD Touch and the mini can recharge it twice from a 10% battery state before the mini needs to be recharged. I really like how small and light the Mini is, and how easy it is to use. I have already told several...

Do not expect this to provide your iPhone with 2 complete charges as stated. It only provides a brief charge providing some added time to use your iPhone. It would not even provide enough power to give one full charge. In fact, when I left it connected to my iPhone hoping it would eventually show the iPhone fully charged, it appeared to begin discharging the iPhone.

It takes a couple of hours to charge the Lenmar battery each time it is used. This battery is strictly an emergency only type accessory.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent iPhone 3GS backup, but that's all, October 17, 2009
This review is from: Lenmar PowerPort Mini Any Where Charger for iPhone 1G, 3G/3GS, and Most BlackBerry Phones - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Unlike what a previous post stated, I have found that it is indeed compatible with my iPhone 3GS. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite have the extra juice I was hoping for. If I let my iPhone drain down to 15% or so and then hook it up to the Mini PowerPort, I can only get a recharge back up to 50% -- and that's only if I completely leave the phone alone. If I use my iPhone continuously (playing a game, etc) after hooking up the PowerPort, then it gives me about 30 - 45 extra minutes of power. That's good for emergency purposes or if you just want a little extra juice before you can get home and hook up to an outlet, but you definitely don't buy a lot of time. One other thing I don't like about it is the quality of the connection to the iPhone. It's not supported well or nearly as snug against the phone as I would like, and would be rather easy to bend or potententially damage the iPhone if you jammed it in your pocket/purse/backpack wrong.

3.0 out of 5 stars To small to hold any real power, December 2, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lenmar PowerPort Mini Any Where Charger for iPhone 1G, 3G/3GS, and Most BlackBerry Phones - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is a nice looking quality device that comes with all the connectors most people will need. The mini is very small about one third the size of the regular power port which isn't very big. I would recommend this device only for emergency back up for a cellphone because I used it on my cellphone and was only able to get 40% more power from a 30% charge. That only gave me 70% total after an hour of charging before it died on me and needed a recharge which takes two hours. There's no way this little thing will charge two devices but it looks good.

Having already had good experience using the Lenmar PowerPort, wanted to check out the smaller, more compact PPUMINI model for backup power to my iPhone. At first, noticed the unit got extremely hot while discharging, then eventually partially melting. Even though I returned the product registration upon delivery and have sent a message to Lenmar about my experience, I have yet received no reply. Although it is possible that I haven't allowed sufficient time to pass for remedy, it has been several weeks.

1.0 out of 5 stars GOOGLE this: Lenmar PPU-MINI birth defects, January 28, 2012
This review is from: Lenmar PowerPort Mini Any Where Charger for iPhone 1G, 3G/3GS, and Most BlackBerry Phones - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I received this as a gift; The store had no price for it so it was bought for $3.00. When I opened it and read the 1 page manual; I was a surprised by one sentence and the very bottom of the page.

Proposition 65 Notice [California]

The following is required in the state of California pursuant to the settlement of an action brought by the Mateel Environmental Justice Foundation against multiple electronics and appliance maufacturers.

WARNING: Handling the cord on this product will expose you to lead, a chemical known in the state of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.

Of course, when you search for the manual online, that small sentence has been removed. My advise---toss the cord and the adaptors into the garbage and use a different cord from your local electronic store. Be safe.

GOOGLE this: Lenmar PPU-MINI birth defects and you can read for yourself

3.0 out of 5 stars USE A GOOD ADAPTER TO CHARGE OR IT WON'T WORK, October 24, 2010
This review is from: Lenmar PowerPort Mini Any Where Charger for iPhone 1G, 3G/3GS, and Most BlackBerry Phones - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I finally figured out how to get the battery to work and I learned something interesting. Not all adapters are equal! Charge this thing with a standard Motorolla brand mini USB wall charger and you will finally have a battery that works! I tried charging this with a solar panel at first and the light would not go blue but instead would go purple!..... PURPLE! Then I tried charging this with the wall adapter that either came with this battery or the solar charger I was using... I can't remember which. That also made the thing go purple. But I saw that the charge it was getting through that adapter was unstable. I could tell by the way the LED was flickering. So I decided to try one last thing before giving up. I tried charging it with the Motorolla wall charger that came with my blue tooth headset. I had a feeling it was going to work when I saw the light was solid red and didn't turn purple after two minutes like the last few times I had tried to charge it with the other sources. It took about two hours but the LED went from red to solid beautiful blue and that's when I decided to test the battery on my Droid 2 again. It worked. I still have yet to test it when my Droid is at a low battery level but the Lenmar certainly did not have any trouble bringing the phone from 90% to 100%.... Now to see if it can take my phone from 30 OR 40% TO 100%... I will try and continue posting the results of these experiments. I would encourage everyone who is having trouble getting this battery to hold a charge properly to use a Motorolla brand (Or any quality brand)wall charger. I think this is the answer. Please try this and let me know if this is a bona-fide solution or if it's just a quirk with my particular battery.

1.0 out of 5 stars Extremely disappointed...but it had potential!, May 29, 2010
This review is from: Lenmar PowerPort Mini Any Where Charger for iPhone 1G, 3G/3GS, and Most BlackBerry Phones - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought mine at Radio Shack after looking for something for quite some time to give my iPhone 3G (not S) a little more juice when I really need it. So far I have been charging this thing for over 6 hours through my USB port and it's still not blue! I know it is charging because the red led is on..however when I take it off my laptop and hook it up to my iPhone, it charges for about 2 seconds and then the Lenmar dies on me. I hook it back up to my laptop to charge. After a couple of hours of waiting (and still no blue light), I try to charge my iPhone again and the same thing happens.

Either my USB port is not charging the Lenmar adequately or the Lenmar is just plain defective. I am trying one last thing just to make sure. I've taken the Lenmar off my laptop and hooked it up to one of those USB AC adaptors. It's plugged into a wall outlet right now charging. If it works I'll update my review later. If not, the piece of junk is getting returned pronto!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy from Lenmar!!!, April 26, 2010
This review is from: Lenmar PowerPort Mini Any Where Charger for iPhone 1G, 3G/3GS, and Most BlackBerry Phones - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Horrible product and non-existent customer service. When you plug the device in the first thing your phone says is that it doesn't support this product; which means your warranty is void if it breaks your phone. Secondly, when you call lenmar to ask about this all you get is a recording stating they will call you back when convenient for THEM, but they never call. I sent an email, that was never answered. This doesn't even provide the charge is advertises. A complete waste of money!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not charge iPhone 3GS, August 16, 2009
This review is from: Lenmar PowerPort Mini Any Where Charger for iPhone 1G, 3G/3GS, and Most BlackBerry Phones - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory)
My girlfriend got this while on a trip in Port Angeles, Washington but it does not charge her iPhone 3GS as advertised. I have found several links online that concur with that assessment. Will use for other devices.
