The battery came with the tools necessary to open my iPod, and it was very easy to do. Getting the factory battery out was the most difficult part, because it is glued to the case, but I just pried it out with the same tools I used to open the iPod. Hooking the battery up was simple and I had the iPod back to working order in no time. My 5th generation 30GB iPod video is now working perfectly again. It's like new!

I know its the design of the Ipod, but the thing is a friggin pain to open, and these tools are basically ineffective. They're really nothing more than a wedge (they will still scratch your ipod up if you're not careful). And you're bound to hurt your hands once or twice.

That being said, once the new battery is in, everything worked perfect. Great battery life now. Changed a bricked ipod that apple wanted some ridiculous sum to fix into a brand new functioning one.

Just make sure you don't get something in the display when you're taking the thing open. a piece of lint or something got stuck in front of the display screen so I had to open the darn thing back up.

The technical details listed this battery as 550 mAh, but the item shipped to me was only 450 mAh. This misinformation is unacceptable.

The only reason it received higher than one star is that it has worked very well since installation.

It was labeled properly so it matched my ipod generation. It was very easy to put battery in even though I have never changed the battery in my ipod before. Next time I need a new battery I will be coming back here.

My Ipod reached a point, where it couldn't hold a charge for more than 5 min - 2 on shuffle. SO I looked around and found this battery. Very easy to switch out the old and in with the new. Now it works like the day I got it!! The battery now lasts all day at work. You could say, I'm thankful!

I replaced my battery, faceplate and headphone jack all at once and it plays (and holds a charge) like new again. The installation for this is not fun and takes some experience. Make sure you watch some videos first.

My wife's 30 GB 5th Generation IPOD finally lost it's battery. Apple wants a bunch of money to replace it. This kit was a very reasonable alternative for anyone with moderate technical skills. The included plastic tools are crap and don't work for prying open the case (but they are GOOD at cutting skin, be careful!). I used a sharp knife blade with minimal damage to the case. Once inside, it was a delicate operation to get the new battery to plug in to the provided slot on the circuit baord, but completely doable! Now, the IPOD works like new and holds a charge for hours.

The battery works great, but the tools included to pry open the iPod were utterly useless. The instructions were also sub-par. I ended up improvising my own tools and looking up instructions online.

Wow! I had not replaced an iPod battery before. I ordered the replacement from Lenmar. It arrived quickly, complete with tools. Took me about 20 minutes...I am slow and VERY careful...to replace the battery. Plugged it in, charged it up, and was back in business. Great service. Great product.

I charged this battery fully for four hours after installing it, and it played with an FM transmitter connected for five hours. I would say that is pretty good. It would probably play about 8 hours without the transmitter. The tools are a little soft, so be careful. Some little pieces from the tool needed to be blown out of the iPod.
