This review is from: Lennie Tristano: Solo - The Copenhagen Concert (DVD)
The night I first watched this I could have watched it all night.Solo jazz piano playing this swinging and creative is hard to come by. As in the CD The New Tristano, he plays the entire keyboard, with a galloping bass line with his left hand and madman-like improviseing with his right. He covers some standards that have densely hidden melodies and other pieces that are creations of his own. This 1965 concert is a rare opportunity to hear a man that rarely recorded or appeared in public. Thanks to [...]for making this and some of his best recordings available.

Lennie Tristano - The Copenhagen ConcertThis recording of Lennie Tristano playing a solo concert in Copenhagen is a unique and priceless document. The music is beautiful. Tristano simply is a creator of style and one of the prominent figures of the Cool jazz. These recordings from 1965 were made in the Tivoli Gardens great Concert Hall in Copenhagen. This review is from: The Lennie Tristano Solo: The Copenhagen Concert (DVD)
This 1965 Tristano concert is, frankly, boring at times. When the pianist is treading water waiting for inspiration the momentum seriously wanes, but when he finds direction his mastery of bop and the blues form is quite evident. Most selections leave something to be desired regarding structure and resolution, and his classical piano flourishes are somewhat trite. If you can find this DVD for under $10.00 including shipping it's worth hearing, otherwise I'd pass.
