Rasmussen and this fine group have come up with quite a different approach to these classic compositions. As Konitz avoided sounding like Bird, Rasmussen side steps the direct influence of Konitz/Marsh for a sparser more angular phrasing. There are many more fine tunes in the Tristano catalog, hopefully we will hear this fine ensemble tackle more of them.
