5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, February 16, 2009
This review is from: Lenore, Vol. 3: Cooties! (Issues 9-12) (Paperback)
This is really funny, and a lot of stuff happens. I didn't like the first eight as much because they were little shorts, they didn't have much in the department of characters, plots or dialogue. Still, the first eight were good, too, but I like these last four the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lenore + Comprehensive Story = ++Good, October 6, 2008
This review is from: Lenore, Vol. 3: Cooties! (Issues 9-12) (Paperback)
This compilation is unique because it features Lenore in a comprehensive story, rather than a series of semi-unrelated strips. Watch (read? view?) as Lenore is taken to Hell (previous issue), escapes from Hell, and is hunted by the devil's vicious bounty hunters (Pooty) and is protected by the loyal doll vampire Ragamuffin.

The final comic in this issue is also in color, and included are plenty of pinups including art from other artists, such as Jhonen Vasquez (Zim and JtHM), Voltaire (Deady the Evil Teddy) and others.

This was certainly the best of the Lenore collections, as the longer story is interesting but the comedy is there start to finish. Who could not laugh at the Spam Witch?

This is a must have for Lenore fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best book in the series., July 18, 2008
This review is from: Lenore, Vol. 3: Cooties! (Issues 9-12) (Paperback)
Roman Dirge, Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl: Cooties (SLG Publishing, 2006)

Really, the only thing I can say about Cooties is "even funnier than Noogies." But I have to fill up a paragraph somehow, so I'll praise Dirge's continuing to experiment with longer storylines (in fact, Cooties is one storyline to itself, except for the extra bits you find in any ish of Lenore-- one of which is truly side-splittingly funny. I had to stuff my intestines back in) and the fantastic new character who pops up here; I'll let you discover him in all his glory and not spoil the surprise for you. This is great stuff. ****

4.0 out of 5 stars The Latest (and Greatest) of Dirge's "Lenore" Series, December 23, 2007
This review is from: Lenore, Vol. 3: Cooties! (Issues 9-12) (Paperback)
"Cooties" collects issues #9-12 of Roman Dirge's comic book series, including several bonus pin-ups by artists such as Steven Daily and Voltaire. If there's anything that doesn't work, it's the story that is a little too whimsical at times for my taste. The real draw for me, though, is in the artwork. Issue #12 is also the first full-color "Lenore," and Dirge's palette is simply gorgeous. "We all know it'll be like four more years before the next [collection] comes out," Dirge says in his introduction. Let's hope that's not the case.

... but all of the Lenore comics are just so morbidly hilarious that you keep wanting to read more. Can't wait to read what Dirge comes up with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooties is great!, February 12, 2007
This review is from: Lenore, Vol. 3: Cooties! (Issues 9-12) (Paperback)
This is Dirge at his best. If you don't laugh out loud at this collection of comics starring Lenore:The Cute Little Dead Girl, you may want to check yourself for a pulse! I love Lenore and have gone through this book more than once when I wanted a good laugh. Another to add to the collection, for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't get enough of the adorable little dead girl!, April 11, 2006
By
This review is from: Lenore, Vol. 3: Cooties! (Issues 9-12) (Paperback)
The adorable little dead girl is back! It's been a long time coming for fans of Roman Dirge's Lenore, but finally the comic installments nine through twelve have been collected in a creepy little collection appropriately entitled "Cooties."

This collection takes a bit of a different twist than has been seen in the two previous graphic novels. Rather than a haphazard helping of short anecdotes, Cooties has a flowing plot line that takes it's readers back to when Lenore first left the realm of the dead. The Dark Overlord sends minions, including the heinous bounty hunter Ouchie Boo Boo, off to bring the little dead girl back to Heck where she belongs, but will they be successful in their quest?

In addition to the four comics, the graphic novel contains some extras. Roman Dirge has added an intriguing introduction. There are a few pages of tattoo flash artwork. Also included are some "pinups" done by other people that are all great variations on the Lenore theme. Let's not forget the ever-popular "Things involving me," short, anecdotal tales about Roman Dirge himself.

If you still can't get enough of Lenore, Mr. Gosh, Ragamuffin, and Pooty after the previous eight comics, then you definitely won't be disappointed by Cooties! I love this new turn Roman Dirge has taken with the Lenore story line, along with Dirge's amazing artwork, and I anxiously await future installments to the series!
