I got this laptop a few weeks ago from TigerDirect and I am overall quite pleased, despite some initial issues with getting the wireless card to retain a connection [1]. The keyboard is excellent and feels much better quality than those of comparably priced models. It also feels quite solid; I went to Staples and held a couple of HP pavilion laptops in the same price range, but they felt sort of flimsy. In terms of looks, I like understated, and it is just a nice fairly unadorned black. The cover has a bit of a faux linen texture which adds a tiny bit of oomph, and also makes it less of a fingerprint magnet than some.

It seems to run quite well, in terms of speed, and the battery life is excellent (much better than other laptops I've had), and much better than a previous poster suggested. I seem to be able to get 4 hours out of it comfortably. I haven't watched a DVD on it, so that might make for a shorter span.

Anyway, after a few weeks, I'm pleased, and I'd recommend this as a cheap laptop that doesn't feel or perform like a cheap laptop.

[1] There's a setting for the wireless card whereby you can determine how aggressively it searches out a "better" signal; dial it down if you're primarily using your home network, or else it will drop your current connection as it tries for a better one. You might also want to turn off/uninstall the Lenovo wireless card software, as it (according to my sources on the Google) can cause problems.

I bought this great little laptop for around $560 +tax when Circut City was going out of business. I love the portability of having a small laptop. It's not as small as a mini, but with the 4GB RAM, Core 2 Duel Processor, 250 GB Hard Drive, and Vista Premium it's well worth the additional size (14.1 in.) and weight (5#). Lenovo seems to offer some pretty nice x-warranties on the product - which I'm not usually a fan of, but for 3 years peace of mind I might just buy one. I bought the Lenovo because I understand Lenovo puts out a good product, and I couldn't get a comparable computer for the price in any of the other brands.

The reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because typing seems to be a bit awkward, the function keys seem to be in a different place - maybe just the delete key - but I've had to look when hitting delete and sometimes the backspace key. The R arrow key also seems to be a bit sticky, and I'm not a big fan of the way some of the newer computers scroll.

Overall I like my Lenovo really well, and I hope it holds up for me for a good long time. We have a Gateway, and HP, a Compaq, and a Dell - the only one I wouldn't buy again is a Dell because our Dell went on the fritz around the one year mark, and couldn't be fixed w/o spending more than we'd pay to replace it.

For a student or business person who needs a small, quiet, and unobtrusive laptop, this is a great offering from Lenovo.
I bought this laptop to use in between classes so I wouldn't have to go to the computer lab on campus or go home to access email or documents. For all my purposes, this laptop delivers in every way. The battery life is acceptable, ranging from 2-2.5 hours. If you have the screen brightness up all the way or watch movies, it may not last as long. The wireless works great and I can access the school's wifi from the coffee shops in the general area (within a block or two). It has all the standard stuff you would expect like a supermulti drive, webcam, and wide screen display, and as I was not looking for a laptop with lots of features, I was very satisfied. The unit has a small subwoofer, and is adequate for music and movies, although if that is important to you, this might not be the best laptop. It is not meant to be a multimedia center away from home. Instead, it is a great entry level laptop worth taking a look at if you (like me) despise Dell and Gateway.
I've always heard great things from Lenovo and my first purchase is well worth the money. Also, the customer service is excellent and the phone operators all speak unaccented English. Unfortunately, a side effect of this is they are only open a limited number of hours and days.
