5.0 out of 5 stars great laptop
I have own it for more than half a year now. It is a great laptop. The most enjoyable feature is its light weight. I travel a lot and it saves my back. What's amazing is that in this slick baby it comes with 3 USB ports, a ultra-compact DVD that helps me enjoy movies on the go, a built-in cam and mic, and much more. 1.0 out of 5 stars Will never buy another Lenovo
Just getting this machine from Lenovo was difficult. Absolutely the worst customer service ever. The product itself is ok; thin? yes light? yes. But the positives pretty much end there. This thing is so buggy someone in China should be very embarrassed. Constant issues and crashing on a $3,000 machine is simply not acceptable. The screen and battery life leave a lot to...

5.0 out of 5 stars great laptop, February 28, 2009
This review is from: Lenovo 64781TU X300 13.3-Inch Laptop (1.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SL7100 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB Solid State Drive, XP Pro) (Personal Computers)
The sound of the speakers, which are hide within the case, is great! Much better than many other laptop speakers. This is very convenient when you are in a hotel room and have no access to good surround sound systems, yet would like to enjoy a little piece of movie without plug you ears with uncomfortable earphones.

The only little disappointment is its battery life. I bought one that claimed to last 6 hours, but at most it last about 4 hours. After half a year, it now lasts about 2 hours. I wish this can be improved.

Overall, I love it. I will recommend this one to my friends if the portability is their major concern in choosing a laptop.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the best laptops I've had. Surprised about other reviews, January 1, 2009

I love how sturdy and lightweight the X300 is. Like most Thinkpads, it looks deceivingly simple (plain black), this is great because it doesn't attract too much attention when traveling in not so safe areas.

One thing that often gets ignored, but it ends up being very important, is the dimensions and weight of the AC adapter; the one that comes with the X300 is very small.

I got mine with 4GB RAM which can only be fully used with a 64-bit OS. I installed Ubuntu and I was quite pleased that most things worked "out of box", even the built-in CDMA modem and webcam!

The solid state drive is great but I am not sure it's worth the high price. It's a small drive, which is fine for most people, but the newer model (x301) has a much bigger disk.

The WLAN is fantastic. I got the Verizon service and its coverage is very good.

I used to have a Sony Vaio before this one and I really appreciate the built-in mic. Also, the Vaio was very fragile, this one is much tougher.

Lenovo's customer service is good, much better than Sony, Acer or HP.

Battery life is average, I wish it was better. I also wish it had a SD card reader. I don't give it 5 stars just because of that.

The screen and battery life leave a lot to be desired IMO as well. Save your money; buy something for half the price that actually works.

1.0 out of 5 stars Incredible hardware, but huge bug issues, August 27, 2008
This review is from: Lenovo 64781TU X300 13.3-Inch Laptop (1.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SL7100 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB Solid State Drive, XP Pro) (Personal Computers)
First- product is great in hardware- size, battery life, screen etc.

BUT- incredibly buggy. The "thinkvantage" software chokes on most complicated network connections ,and cannot be rebooted well. the wlan access is very buggy- sometimes insists "unauthorized wlan card inserted" and refuses to boot, VERY frequent "blue screens of death". Support nonexistent.

Generally frustrated with this purchase

2.0 out of 5 stars Great little laptop, but expensive!!!, June 27, 2009

I've had this neat little laptop for the past 8 months. It has served me well, however as many has mentioned, the thinkvantage software would cause the computer to freeze. So the finger print reader is non-existent because you need the tainkvantage software to run it. I called customer service in Atlanta and was put on hold for 15 minutes. After coming back on, the customer service told me tell would give me a return call when they found out what was wrong with the thinkvantage software. I never received a call.

I really like the form factor of this laptop. It's easy to carry around and I also got the extra 3 cell cd-rom battery and put it together with the 6 cell battery. I get about 6-7 hours of usuage from a single charge up. Overall this laptop is really nice, but pricey. Just don't count on the fingerprint reader to work. Everything else worked like a charm for me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Consistently bad service experience with Lonovo, August 19, 2008

This review is from: Lenovo 64781TU X300 13.3-Inch Laptop (1.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SL7100 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB Solid State Drive, XP Pro) (Personal Computers)
I bought my first lonovo laptop after many years of owning Compaq and Dell notebooks. The main reason for buying a lenovo was the battery life on the computer (6-8hrs), the size and weight. I have now owned the unit for about 6 weeks and the battery life, size and weight are great. However, I have had so many problems with the unit (wireless connection getting dropped - requiring a reboot everytime, thinkvantage software not working right, problems with the fingerprint login etc etc). What is shocking is that both the techinical help and customer service are CONSISTANTLY bad. The service is provided by 800-ibm-serve, based in Atlanta. I could go on and on...but in short..save your time and money and buy another brand.

1.0 out of 5 stars great hardware - no, and I mean NO, support!, July 30, 2008

After shelling out close to $3,000 you would think that Lenovo would provide me support for the computer. That's what I thought. However, it turns out they only provide hardware support and refused to help with a connectivity issue that only happens only with my new Lenovo and none of the other five computers that connect to this LAN.
