This is a good solid computer for the price. Have had mine for about a month and quite impressed so far. The computer has a nice sized, clear screen and plenty of power to run applications and basic everyday computer needs. It has the basics for everyday computing... Little flimsy on the design but wouldn't stop me from buying it again.

I purchased this in Feb., The Windows 7 came and in order to load it, the instruction said to delete the preloaded Windows Xp and all other programs - well, no other disks came with the laptop - so I could never load Windows 7. Now, I have a virus and in order to get rid of it I need to reload the operating system, well guess what ? I don't have the disks. This was a $500 loss!
Lenova should have included all the disks .

I own this laptop about 3 months now, never have a problem, very light, nice LED display very vivid, nice for travel too. i will give 7 stars for this product.

I have had this Lenovo G550 for about a week and there are some problems.

The glare from the shiny screen is intense. If there is sunlight anywhere in the room it is like looking into a mirror. Even in subdued light you can see yourself if the screen background is dark.

This is perhaps the worst microphone on any laptop sold today. It only picks up your voice if you speak within 10 inches of the keyboard. You can't really use this computer with Skype.

I had to downgrade the trackpad software to turn of the tap-click function--pain in the neck for a common setting.

And in response to some other comments, the T4400 processor is not an Intel "Core 2 Duo" product. It is a Pentium "dual-core" CPU.
I didn't realize this difference and was annoyed by the "Pentium inside" sticker.
This seems like a reasonable complaint to me, because Intel markets "Core 2 Duo" products separately from their Pentium line.

I disagree with the previous post. The T4400 is an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The T4400 may be on Intel's Core 2 Duo lower end, but a dual core nevertheless. It's new to the market (the 4th quarter of '09). Easy enough to prove: [...]

Oh boy... What a mistake!
Shouldn't have bought this in the first place. Totally blinded by its cheap price. Now what...
Its ALPS Touchpad is not working -- jumpy, unresponsive, frequently stopped working for no reason.
What can I do now?

Save your money. Buy Toshiba or something else.

You will be in the middle of working on something, and ads will pop up. Disabling the feature does not work. It's hard to find how to uninstall this and even then it comes back with a computer update. Unreal. It's been discussed about on many forums, and I've seen somewhere lenovo has been banned by US government from the government use.

It would have been a great product, but now, I will never buy anything lenovo ever again and will advise my friends to stay far far away.

The processor is NOT a core 2 duo. It is a 2.2 GHz pentium t4400.

I was a little disappointed some of the things such as blue tooth was not on the computer. I did a seach through google and filter to have blue tooth, but the limited description did not mention what was or was not on it.
