I bought this to use for an IP based surveillance system. Since most people seem to be using mini computers for TV streaming I was skeptical about using it for anything else - a desktop replacement for example.
It works better than an older tower system I have with Windows 7 for my purpose.
I see no reason it why it would not make an excellent computer for everyday use.
It has the fastest boot up and shutdown time of any computer I've ever used, including a Mac Pro and Win 7/XP or Linux.
At first it is a little aggravating to use Windows 8.1. However, for the computer literate it is simply a matter of dumping the annoying widget interface and getting back to a semblance of the common Windows desktop. I find Win 8 not nearly as "Awful" as others do. But then my entire career has been some form of IT work and I've seen a lot worse systems than this.
Consider, it can be portable with a small keyboard, mouse and monitor.
It is modular - you can add drives and other devices with USB.
It is so quiet it almost makes no noise, even more quiet than a Mac Pro I use for audio editing.

The initial setup is very annoying due to Microsoft insisting that you use their cloud system and have a MS email account. Once I threw in some junk (I'm almost 100 years old :o) and got into the system everything was fine.
As others have said, this is not a graphic intensive system. With some serious upgrading it could run apps like PhotoShop, maybe even video editing.

I've been using this for a little more than one week. If it doesn't give me trouble, I'll be getting another one. Or more.

I am an over the road truck driver by trade, who needs a wifi capable computer in order to run my business. Laptops have sufficed over the years, but I was ready to try something different. Knowing that the Q190's hdmi would feed my fancy 32" lcd tv in the truck, including sound, I decided to give it a try. The one thing I really liked was the super compact size and the included mounting bracket. You can hide this tiny pc just about anywhere, which is somewhat important in a vehicle installation. I want to tell you right off the bat, that I despise microsloth. I was forced into using windews in the past due to software choices, and did not have a whole lot of choice(however, that has all changed). I have been playing around with Q190, and have come to the following conclusion: windews 8 is absolutely horrible! I can't stand it.
And now for the good part...Being a part time computer nerd, I decided to upgrade and modify the Q190, and make it do what I wanted it to do. I upgraded the memory to 8gb and installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a 250gb solid state drive. Now this little linux pc is a real powerhouse! Lightning fast, the beauty of Ubuntu, and none of the microsloth bs. This works as well as my linux laptop which cost 3 times as much to put together, and I couldn't be happier! I am able to do everything I need to do on the business side, and everything I want to do on my down time, and it all works flawlessly. And the icing on the cake is that I can now view everything on my 32" lcd tv with out squinting, which is a real plus for these 50 year old eyes.

I bought this to replace a half tower PC that sat beside my entertainment center that was used for videos and saved music. Its size caught my attention.

The output of the PC goes to a Yamaha receiver/processor which drives the screen (a Panasonic plasma TV) and a set of speakers. The Yamaha also has a cable box and a BR DVD attached to it.

After configuring how I use the Lenovo PC (VLC to play videos and a Logitech RF trackball and a RF keyboard), it works well. Its small form factor allowed me to "hide it away" inside of a cabinet that holds all of my components.

From my perspective, the Windows 8 standard interface is of no real use to me. So, I use the sorta-like-Windows 7 interface which is distinguished by the lack of a "Start Menu". Fortunately the windows-key-X works.

The only oddity about the Lenovo instance of the Windows 8 software is that, if you use the PC and then use other parts of my entertainment system (DVD or Cable or ...), and then return to the PC the sound no longer is present - even though the video is OK. This is not the case with my older attached PC, a Windows 7 box. If you reboot or logout and then login to the Lenovo, the sound is recovered. It seems to depend on just how long the PC is unattended. Letting the PC go to sleep and then waking it up seems to keep the sound from non-functioning. And the Lenovo PC comes out of sleep quite quickly.

So, all in all, I am happy with the Lenovo PC in the role for which I bought it.

First thing I did when I got it was wipe windows 8 from the drive. That was a HUGE process though since they lock the drive so I had to do a few hours of research to figure out how to remove the legacy setting in dos, or whatever its called. Once I was able to remove Windows 8 I was able to get a better idea of how the system performs.

I use this for 3 things..
- Websites
- Watching movies
- Downloading torrents

I purchased this with that in mind thinking that if I installed a low weight Linux OS the 1.5 GHz Celeron processor would perform adequately but it really hasn't. It can be really slow, videos sometimes skip, takes time to open a browser, etc... I could only imagine how dreadfully slow it would be if I was still using Windows 8!

I'm using Ubuntu now so I am going to try switching to XBMC to see if I have better results. If not I can look into upgrading the ram after the holidays.

All in all... I love the idea of this little thing.. It's really cool looking and I have it mounted on the back of my 65 inch tv so it makes it even cooler.. Problem is it's not powerful enough for me...

If I could go back knowing what I know now about the machine I would have coughed up the extra $100 for the i3 processor..

**BTW, This doesn't come with that cool remote/mouse/keyboard, atleast mine didn't. Mine came with a wired keyboard and mouse.*** I would check with the seller before buying if that is a priority.
