I got a refurbished one, and its have several different troubles. It fails to recognize the boot device even though the HDD is properly connected. It will freeze randomly and have to be restarted which then of course doesn't recognize a boot device which is why it froze. Even after opening up the laptop and checking that the HDD is properly connected it doesn't always recognize it.

Another bad part to this laptop is the BIOS which falls short of anything i've ever seen, which makes finding the boot device even harder. When the device is found it takes an hour for it to do a "Scan and Repair" of the HDD.

I would not recommend to anyone.

Why do I pit Lenovo against HP ,well most computers use standard parts .They don't make hard drives .motherboards and don't use their os .So what's left ,you got it service & price .Lenovo is a bit pricey ,you can do better with HP on price .So I bought this Lenovo around Xmas time .in Feb I called Lenovo about battery problems after only getting 1 1/2 hours on it .Lenovo wouldn't take my word for it and insisted on remotely taking over my computer, they fiddled around for 1/2 an hour with no improvement ,and finally replaced it .I also have a HP which contacted a very bad virus which had me thinking I should consider replacing it .I was considering another Lenovo or a Asus .This HP is about 2 years old and wouldn't boot ,I was reluctantly going to take it to the geek squad.A friend told me why don't I call HP ,which I was hesitant to thinking I was going to get a guy from India that I couldn't understand .Well I called HP ,what I got was attentive service still from India ,however this guy must have taken some English courses .I also found out I had 35 days left on my warranty ,didn't know I had 2 years .The tech asked me if I had recovery discs ,which I did not ,and told me they were overnighting to me the discs free .They came with detailed instructions ,very hard to screw up and I only called tech once and was connected in 3 mins .So I thought what if this happens to the Lenovo and I have no recovery discs surely Lenovo would send me some like HP ,NOOO .You can buy this deal for $175 and we send you recovery discs .Now cd's probably cost 10 cents or less and this guy was having phone problems so much static .I asked to speak to his manager also NOOO ,also bad static .These jerks can't even buy a decent phone service they walk about with portable phones that don't work.Read more ›
