I got this for a home theater PC to watch downloaded videos on my LCD TV. I had looked at the Mac Mini and other options, but chose to buy this. It has the same nVidia 9400M graphics as the Mac Mini and it's about the same size (maybe smaller). The only difference between the two (other than $350 in price) is that the Ideacentre uses a dual core Atom instead of a Core 2 Duo processor.

The dual core Atom D510 is surprisingly zippy. With the ION graphics, it has no trouble handling 1080p video (x264 with DTS for example). Out of the box HDMI video with audio over HDMI worked like a charm. It was really plug and play. Has optical digital audio out on the front (SPDIF) if you need it. Runs quiet. Even has the VESA bracket to mount it to the back of your LCD TV!

The included remote is very good overall. Took me a few minutes to realize that the USB transceiver was stored in the battery compartment of the remote. Once I found it and plugged it in, it worked great. Only (trivial) complaint is that there are no function keys.

If you need a small HTPC that will play anything, give this little guy some serious consideration!

I just "downgraded" to this thing from a gigantic HTPC I built a couple years ago as a television computer. I am shocked and amazed at how small this thing is. I bought the Asus external Blu-ray drive (the one that is picured as standing vertically, with a blue cross design on its surface -- by the way that drive turned out to be poor quality but this isn't a review for that), which has a very tiny footprint in itself for being an external drive, and amazingly, the Lenovo is only slightly larger than the Blu-ray drive, you could literally stack the Lenovo on top of the Blu-ray drive and the blu-ray drive wouldn't be noticeably smaller.

And yes, this Lenovo plays back 1080p HD content just fine, thanks to the nVidia ION video chipset.

The flavor of Windows 7 that comes bundled with this Lenovo also comes with Windows Media Center. I have a Silicon Dust HDHomeRun so that I can stream live high-definition (1080p) antenna or cable television to my PC, and HDHomeRun works fine with Media Center on this Lenovo PC.

The Q150 also comes with PowerDVD for DVD playback, although it is not licensed for Blu-ray playback, but most external Blu-ray drives come with the more complete PowerDVD with Blu-ray support, or equivalent software for Blu-ray playback.

I was extremely happy to find an optical audio jack on the front of the Q150 behind the removable plastic panel where 2 more USB ports are also available. I didn't see the optical audio jack mentioned in the spec. (Still don't, am I blind?) I had purchased a Turtle Beach external USB sound card with optical output to provide the optical output I wanted for my home theater speaker system.

I love this thing. It has taken care of most of my general computer needs (websurfing, email) + has taken place of handling most of my media needs as well (hulu, netflix, itunes, etc.) And it does these things flawlessly.

Things I miss:
*Not having a CD/DVD drive... on the odd occasion I want to rip a CD direct to itunes.

Things I wish:
*I wish the wireless was N, because I have a killer dual band router that has an unused 5.0 ghz N band.
*I wish the remote keyboard had backlit keys, I watch TV with this a lot and they can be hard to see unless I sit up and tilt the keyboard towards the screen.

What I couldn't get working:
*I can't get HDMI sound out to work going to my TV (but that's ok, I use digital optical out to my receiver.)
*I can't have multiple sound outputs functioning at once, then just use the mixer to control volumes. So if I want to use my 5.1 headphones I have to switch the default playback device from digital out to speakers.

The Ideacentre Q150 40814AU is a great little system for my needs. I have it connected to our 42" Plasma to stream videos from my "home" network or videos on demand from the web. Everything is working great, nice picture, good sound - nothing to complain at all. I use the (freeware) boxee application - [...] - to play all my Video and Music files from my network drive.
I also use the Q150 with my TV to make SKYPE video calls. For the price it's a great little media computer!

1. Wonderful little low power box to hook to a tv and not use up the whole living room.
2. Not a panting, quivering, high power media box.
3. Streaming 1080 hd often gets glitchy and has audio issues.
4. 720 is possible, looks good.
5. Windows 7 - works ok.
6. PC isn't garbage laden.

My take - good to watch anything but true streaming 1080 hi def.

Just don't expect miracles...

Yes - I DID implement the acceleration features.

Yes- I DO have plenty of bandwidth for the thing.

This is a nice little system, until it breaks. Mine made it 2 months before the motherboard fried.

I've been trying to get my Q150 serviced for 3-weeks now and it has been a complete nightmare. Lenovo outsources their onsite support to Unisys, but their customer support people have no way to communicate with Unisys directly. Only email exchanges, that the customer is not privy to.

For three weeks, Lenovo has been promising support. And for three weeks, nothing has happened. When I call, they tell me a tech will call me back... not a single call back in three weeks. They tell me the onsite guy will be here "later today"... and no one ever shows. When I call back to check on the status, they only tell me that they are unable to contact Unisys, but they are sure someone will call me. Despite the fact that for three weeks, not a single person has called.

They even shipped the replacement part to me, but if I install it myself, it will void the warranty. So, I continue to sit and wait.

Given this experience, one which I would have never expected, and the complete lack of accountability at Lenovo for their subcontracted service provider and their refusal to allow me to contact the service provider directly, I could never recommend that anyone buy this (or anything else) from Lenovo.
