I like that the power button sits up near the screen and away from the keyboard.

It feels like a full sized notebook or desktop; it has one of the best keyboards I've ever used, certainly the best on a netbook.

Installed Windows XP pro and everything worked thanks to the available drivers on Lenovo's website.

I wanted a small netbook so I could carry them around when I go travel. I came across this laptop because it just came out (June, 2010). I am pretty happy with the purchase. It gives me all the basic needs: Microsoft word, surfing, youtube, email, and listening to music. The keyboard is pretty steady and well made, but the touchpad could be better and more sensitive, but I carry a small mouse anyway so I don't mind it at all.

*Amazon doesn't distinguish this, but please note that the difference between model 2AU and 2BU is that 2BU is Bluetooth enabled but it costs $30 more. I am glad I got the bluetooth version because I use my blackberry phone tethering to go online on my computer anywhere I want, and bluetooth helps a lot by eliminating the need to carry around cables.

Took out the c-gate hard drive and tossed in a Western Digital Black Scorpio and 2 gigs of RAM. Installed Windows XP pro and everything worked thanks to the available drivers on Lenovo's website. Windows 7 starter is a joke and the full version is sluggish on these netbooks. Keyboard is well built and upgrading is easy thanks to the easy access panel on the underside. 5 stars all the way!

Prior to purchasing one of these great little machines, I had been looking at netbooks for some time. Most of them, and their software, are designed for mobile media: music, videos, web-browsing, etc. However I was looking for a portable machine on which I could be productive away from the office reviewing documents, analyzing data, and editing code. The S10 is perfect for my purposes - though I suspect it'd also be a top competitor for the media applications as well.

HARDWARE:
As has been noted in other reviews, the keyboard is one of the highlights of this machine. It is hard to tell that you are typing on a netbook. It feels like a full sized notebook or desktop; it has one of the best keyboards I've ever used, certainly the best on a netbook.

The touchpad is where the S10 receives the most criticism. The criticisms are generally valid, but I've found that it can easily be fixed or worked around (see below in software).

The N455 is impressive. I'm sure formal tests can demonstrate clear differences between the atom processors and their full sized siblings, but I've put this machine through it's paces with some compiling and moderate data analysis work and I never found myself waiting.

This model comes with 1MB memory. Access to the memory slots seems easy enough so it could be expanded to 2MB, but for my software choices (see below) this is really not an issue.

The harddrive is also fairly large for a netbook - and all this is on a *very* compact, *very* lightweight device.

SOFTWARE:
Here's where I have gripes - but they're easily fixed. I have not liked where Windows has been going for the past decade, it is getting bigger, slower, more bloated, and much less user friendly.

First off, I am a college student. I was not looking for a top-of-the-line machine. I wanted the basics (something for email, word processing, web browsing, etc.) in a pc that was convenient to use and to carry around.

THE MACHINE
Before even shopping for a computer, I made the intention that I was not going to buy extra memory; I didn't have the funds for it and I didn't see it as a necessary expense. But now I'm considering it IF I can find a 1 gb stick for cheap, because sometimes it runs choppy with several programs open. But it doesn't slow me down enough to be a problem, so I can't say it's a deal breaker.

Again I'm a student, I take it with me everywhere so I like that it's lightweight. During my first use, I charged the battery to 95% and it lasted for about 6 hours (with a fully bright screen and a few programs running). After 6 months, I charge the battery to 95% and it lasts for about 5 hours (with a fully bright screen and a few programs running). However, I rarely fully charge my battery. A CompSci friend told me that charging of lithium ion is different and requires a moderate charge to avoid having to buy another battery for as long as possible, so I plug it in at 30% and stop charging at 80%. I also like the fact that it's a lenovo product, which have always been reliable in my experience.

All the features are just fine for my needs. The sound quality is good, and I like that the speakers are placed towards the front instead of on the side. I like that the power button sits up near the screen and away from the keyboard. The full size keyboard is comfortable to use, and it has solid keys much like what you would find on a macbook. I store my important documents on a backup computer, so the hard drive size is fine.

I needed a netbook and chose the Lenovo S10-3. My decision was influenced by a friend who had a very reliable Lenovo. The computer has fallen several times and has not failed her yet!!. This netbook is excellent! Light and top of the line. My only disappointment was with the Windows 7 Starter and I have since done an upgrade. I will recommend this netbook to anyone!! The price has also since gone down since I made my purchase, so it's a good time to grab onto it at less than $300.
