just like other reviews online regarding this product, its is an amazing product for the price. After I completed the recovery disk option, I upgraded the storage to 500gb SSD and 16gb memory RAM.

I manage to get around 4 hours for web browsing and document processing using 'balance' battery mode. I probably can get more time is using 'energy saver' profile, but the performance is a little bit sluggish.

Love the keyboard and trackpoint. It takes time to adjust with the keyboard layout especially the 'home' and 'end' button and I don't use 'page up' and 'page down' button very much. I also own thinkpad x100e, and I believe the x100e keyboard layout is much superior than this laptop. Oh well, its a matter of learning curve, and after few weeks, I dont find this keyboard layout much annoying.

i did change the keyboard layout in BIOS to change F1 to F12 button to legacy function, and swap Fn and Ctrl key, but then I change them to default. I guess for a student and casual user like me, the current keyboard layout is sufficient.

The build for this laptop is very good. Love it and if you can get it for USD 400 ish, i say go for it. Spend another bucks to upgrade the storage to SSD and memory expand the memory RAM to 16gb.

Screen resolution is just okay. The screen matte is perfect for reading document and word processing than glossy screen.

I can get medium setting with medium resolution for gaming. Game that I installed is Mass effect 3, but I dont use this laptop for gaming but primarily for school and travelling.

I have waited several weeks to test this out, before posting a review. My qualifications: IT pro, 35 years experience, own an orginal IBM T21 and latest ideapad flex 14. Mostly bought this because it is the closest remaining keyboard, to the orginal IBM thinkpad lines (lenova needs to get a clue about messing with keyboard design). This is not the grandchild however of the original IBM line of thinkpads (the first notebook designed for linux, by the way). Those are, and will always be, in a class of their own. I did not expect this one to be that.

overall impression are excellent for a low to mid level consumer grade notebook, as long as you are prepared to modify / upgrade the base system.

weight is completely acceptable, considering this is fullsize notebook, that can act as a desktop replacement if needed. If you need a netbook, buy a netbook. For anyone wanting to do real work on the road, at home, or in an office, this is a great size. I would use my netbook (really my smartphone), for walking around all day.

Most user complaints seem to be complaints about windows, not this machine. windows 7, out of the box, takes almost a full min to boot. This comes with the 8.0 pro upgrade dvd set, but I have no interest in even trying that crapware on anything (deleted it off my ideapad). I run fedora linux 21 on this, and after the below modifications it boots in under 15 seconds (without optimization or tweaks to fedora).

Here is the deal. This is an enterprise class laptop, with all the goodies stripped out of it to make it a cheap consumer grade notebook. So, the trick is to buy this, then add a solid state drive and more ram. With about $100-300 more worth of upgrades, you now have a notebook that will hold its own with $1,000+ dollar laptops on the market.

The A6 has 192 shaders, the A8 has 256 shaders, but the A10 has 384 shaders and only the A8 and A10 have dual cpu's (billed as quad but there are only 2 integer units, so it's more like 2 cores with 2 threads per core.) To reach its potential as a gamer machine, you have to buy a second channel of RAM so that the graphics chip(s) can make double-sized fetches from RAM, another $40. So for a little bit of extra money, you can get a machine that plays games like an NVidia 730 or 740 CPU.

Also this has the *real* thinkpad ultranav, no longer offered on any other Lenovo machine. Get it while you still can, because the newer machines have horrible trackpads and no buttons !!!
