The Lenox Tools 30808600P Plumbers Speed Slot Bi-Metal Hole Saw Set, 10-Piece features the new Speed Slot Hole Saws by Lenox. The new Speed Slot hole saw outperforms all competitors in wood cutting, plug removal, and metal cutting applications. The patent pending Speed Slot features a staircase design for easy plug removal. The slot is wider than most and is placed lower on the hole saw with multiple leverage points to easily eject the plug with a standard screwdriver. The hole saw is 10-percent taller than the previous model to deliver cleaner cuts through two-by lumber. The Speed Slot efficiently removes saw dust and chips while producing a fast cut and preventing the plug from getting stuck in the saw. The new hole saw also features up to twice the life of the previous model when cutting metal. An enhanced tooth geometry, a thin kerf design and an advanced coating contribute to the efficiency of the cutting process by removing material faster, therefore generating less heat while cutting (3/4-Inch, 7/8-Inch, 1-1/8-Inch, 1-1/2-Inch, 1-3/4-Inch, 2-Inch, 2-1/4-Inch, SNAP-BACK Arbors: 2L and 5L, One arbor adaptor).

This is a well made set of hole saws. I have used them for a variety of wooden doors, piping runs inside walls, and one metal door. In all cases the saws performed well. I am not sure how well they would hold up to extended use on metal, however for my moderate useage on wood, and limited use on metal they have seemed to hold their edge quite well. I originally bought a single lenox hole saw in a large diameter and had a cheap set of small diameter saws. I picked up this set from amazon on some special and will never use the cheap ones again, even for small diameter holes. I would have saved myself significant time and furstration if I had just purchased the "good" set at the regular price rather than trying to save a few dollars by buying cheaper versions of the small diameter saws.

It worked well to do exactly what I wanted. The carrying case is awesome for typical residential hobbyist use. (Typical of Lenox cases). The blades aren't that great. I would guess each one can withstand light use for a lifetime. If you had to cut 200+ holes I would use a different blade. Lenox blades are easy to replace though Lowes carries them. (at ~15.00 a pop)
