These are absolutely beautiful dishes and I love them. The patterns are so delicate, yet the plates are very durable. I really liked the variety of patterns on each piece. Even the back of the dishes have butterflies. I was happy to see them at such a discount here. I noticed they are also discounted the same at Bed, Bath and Beyond and a few other places, but are much cheaper than buying them direct from Lenox, even on sale. This set would make a lovely gift for anyone of any age, not just for an elderly person as suggested in the previous review. :) I highly recommend them.

I love this whimsical pattern--the reason I gave this item five stars.

I bought this set for my mother-in-law. She will not use the mugs--they sit in her china hutch. She does not like the scalloped edge around the top of the mug--she says the scallops make drinking from them more *difficult* and less *comfortable*. She also does not like the narrow bottom on the mug. She feels they are top heavy and more prone to tipping/spilling.

Before buying the whole set, purchasing one mug seperately for a home trial may be warranted if there is any chance that the scalloped drinking edge or narrow base on the mug may pose a problem for you.

I purchased this set as a gift to myself when my husband and I moved into our new home. Our children had gone off to college and I thought the Lenox dishes were a luxury we could now enjoy. Unfortunately, they are mostly a disappointment. On a positive note they are beautiful. We have been using this Butterfly Meadow set just over 2 years now. Almost immediately I noticed how easily these dishes scratch. Aren't plates made with the intention of eating off of them? I won't even offer steak knives when setting the table, unless my guests request them, because I know the dishes will become even more marred. I am also surprised at how easily this set chips, and the chipped edges are very sharp. I'm very careful with the set and only hand wash everything, so I'm truly shocked whenever I find a chip. I had such high expectations since this set is made by Lenox. I previously owned a set of Corelle dishes which was much less expensive and I used for over 20 years. I wish I had known, how delicate the Butterfly Meadow set actually is, before I had purchased it. Honestly, I just don't recommend it.

Because of the discounts plural offered by Amazon, this is a good purchase. It's fun and the everyday flowers keep this from being too precious. The bugs are fantastic especially the fat bees. These dishes and cups feel very comfortable in the hand as does the matching rice bowl so I recommend this. Also, I think this would be a cheery gift to give to elderly women especially ones who don't like flowery twee patterns because new dishes are something that you tend not to get when you reach a certain age.

This is a much much better choice than plain white dishes which I would never do or a discounted snowflake set by Corelle. There is a non-Lenox brand (Homevisions)that is also offering a butterfly and flower pattern that is dippy looking.

Every piece is made in Indonesia. I read somewhere that the Corelle sets were mismatched because all but the cups were made together and the cups didn't match. I liked the idea of indestructible everyday dinnerware to match my indestructible restaurant pieces but reading deeper, I found that Corelle didn't promise such hardiness. This delicate looking Lenox set is lightweight and gentle on the lips but chip-proof enough for my purpose.

Is this frugal? no but I am happy I bought them and I use them everyday
Would I have purchased this used at a cheaper price off of craigslist? no
Did I shop around for the best total price including the manufacturer's website? yes and so should you

We love the dishes. The pattern is great for every day use, or you can dress up the table setting with extras to give it a more decorative look. I have almost all of the pieces and love them. CAUTION: Do not put the dinner plate in the microwave if it is not loaded with food, or the plate will crack in half. Lenox was nice enough to replace mine without the 50% replacement fee. Enjoy!

I have had these for over a year and they hold up. No cracks or chips. And they are much nicer looking than in the photos. Everyone who sees them raves about how nice they are. Someone in a previous review compares them to Corelle. There is no comparison. These have a richer look and feel. Another reviewer has doubts about the scalloped edges on the rims and small bottoms on the cups. I don't find them to be any different to drink from or at all likely to tip over, and they are as durable as any other I have ever used, despite their delicate appearance. And the price is unbeatable. Buy a set -- you will love them!

I initially rated these 5 stars, but have discovered that they use LEAD in the paint and possibly in the glaze on these. It isn't supposed to come off but I am seriously p****d off that there is lead in them. I have been checking my baby for lead regularly now because of these. I breastfeed her and heat her regular food on them. I can't afford to replace them and I still do love the pattern, but I will NEVER buy anything from Lenox ever again.

I was dreaming of this set for months and months and couldn't bring myself to pay so much for dishes... but finally, I decided that they were probably worth it to me since I waited so long to buy them.
They are so beautiful. It makes me happy just to eat off them. ;)
I don't care if that is lame, I use them every day, because they make me happy. My husband thinks they are nice, too. I haven't had one break yet, although it may happen as I use them daily. I bought the rice bowls as well, and they were a perfect addition for me.

3 months later...
I wanted to add that we have had them for three months, use them everyday, and they are still great! I am searching for more pieces now, like serving bowls. Another reviewer said you can mix and match to suit your mood, and I agree! I love how all the patterns are different and I pick my favorite ones every time I eat. We also bought the rice bowls, (which are the same pattern, but so cute!) and we are buying 4 more because we find we use the bowls more than anything (and the small plates, second most used). We always wash them in the dishwasher, and we do heat them up in the microwave, but I try not to put them in there too much. If I choose to make bacon or potatoes or something in the microwave, I grab an old cheap plate from our first set, and I use that. I keep a few of them up high in a cupboard in my kitchen. Oh! And.. I stupidly put one or two of the plates on our stove, when it was probably still hot, so they have a few light orange burn marks on the bottom of them. I probably had done that before with my cheaper plates, but they had no problems like that. I take special care now where I put these. (I am sure no one else is quite so careless and dumb about that! I am not so great in the kitchen ha)

Well, it is obvious I love these. ;) Off to look for some matching pieces!

ONE YEAR LATER:
I have now had this set for over a year and I still feel happy every time I use them. They are just so pretty to look at and eat off of. I tend to use the smaller plates the most and I use my coffee cups constantly. They do get hot in the microwave, but not too hot. I have lost 1 or 2 pieces this year, a plate and a mug, because I can be clumsy and drop stuff. I have dropped pieces more times than any have broken, though. I think they are quite sturdy. I won't be putting them away when I have kids. My mom also found some random extra pieces of this pattern at a discount store, so we stocked up on some extra plates and mugs so I will have extra replacement pieces should I need them later. If you like pretty whimsical things and would like your dishware to boost your mood- buy them!

This dinnerware set is the most beautiful and fine china set I have ever laid eyes on! When it arrived I was even more impressed because it looks even better than the photo. The price here is very good as well and I am very, very happy and proud to have such a unique and great looking set. All of my friends noticed it and said compliments about it. Highly recommended.

They're beautiful - 6 different dinner plates, 6 different salad plates and 6 different mugs. You can mix and match colors and flowers to suit your mood or your decor.

The set is a pleasure to look at and serve with.It arrived well packed with no damage.
