Loupe's great,

I found the loupe in this kit is really helpful. Besides being cheaper than Visible Dust (what isn't?) this loupe is "cut away" so you can insert a tool or swab and actually see what you are doing. The battery door is a little delicate and the illustration of the battery installation shows them with polarity reversed from top to bottom. No big deal. Contrary to the other reviews, batteries for the loupe are ridiculously cheap on that auction site. I've never seen button batteries that cost so little; I wonder how anyone, even the Chinese, can make them so inexpensively. I did not find the LensPen effective and if anything, it coaxed me into nudging the dust with too much force. I settled on a combination of the LensPen Loupe with the Kinetronics Speck Grabber. Its a little tedious but seems to work really well. Your results may be different but there is so much ionic electrostatic photovoltaic cleaning stuff out there, there is something for everyone. (Except, I don't think they sell the radioactive dust brushes any more--darn.) Absolutely worth it for the loupe alone.

I've been cleaning my camera sensor for years, using blowers, sticky pads, pec-pads, static brush and all the other assorted tools. Usually it's blower, check sensor, brush, check sensor, sticky-pad, check sensor, pec-pad, check sensor, pec-pad, check sensor. Repeat. Checking the sensor involved a penlight in one hand and squinting at the sensor.
The loupe makes the "checking" part a lot easier. I still try the "blower" part first, but then move on to the sensor pen. The batteries were tough to install. It uses several "button" batteries, so battery replacement will be expensive. BUT it did include two sets. Probably enough for a year or more. It's a great addition to my cleaning arsenal.

This does the job for cleaning my sensor. I wish they would include more swabs. I would have paid more to save the hassle of ordering more of them.

Nice and handy, easy to use. The loupe allows magnified lighted viewing of the sensor but the filter over the sensor is so reflective it's a bit difficult to see the dust without some effort.
The lens pen does effectively clean without smearing but I was unable to remove all spots (when shooting at f22 on a white paper) and will most likely have to try some sensor swabs or just let it go as it's not really affecting my photos. My procedure was as follows: blow out mirror box with giotto rocket raise mirror blow out sensor box view with loupe sensor pen view with loupe repeat. I was able to reduce the number of specks from a few dozen down to 2 or 3 noticeable spots when shooting into a bright white paper with lens set to infinity and f22. EDIT: 04/04/2011 Apparently I am one of the lucky people who have a spec of dust under the filter, hence not cleanable by standard methods. I quit stressing about it. The lens pen does just fine for quick and easy cleanup of light dust spots.

The first time I tried cleaning the sensor on my Canon 5D MkII using this, I still saw some dust when shooting a test video. I was worried this wasn't going to work, but then I looked through the loop a second time and saw the dust more clearly. I found you don't actually have to rest the loupe on the camera body - if you sort of angle it a bit, you can get it very well focused on the part your working on, then angle it differently as you move along. I'm not seeing any appreciable dust now after using it a second time. What a relief!

My dust is GONE,

I have a nearly new Nikon D300s and I was nervous about performing contact-cleaning of my sensor. But since B&H sold me an apparently used camera as "new" (no more to say about that here), my "new" camera was in need of cleaning. I tried the air blower attack, but there were two spots that were not moving.
After much investigation, I decided to buy the Sensor Loupe and the Sensor Klear pen. As others have said, installing the batteries is a pain. I put them in backwards the first time (there IS a tiny "+" and "-" sign on the Loupe). Fortunately no damage resulted. Using the Loupe made it very easy to see the offending spots. The access hole in the Loupe is clever and makes it easy to position it so you can access dust specs anywhere on the sensor. I hit the dust specs with the Pen very carefully, and removed one and loosened the other. Using the blower, I was finally rid of them both. As I was told by several professional photographers, if you own a DSLR you will get dust on the sensor and you must learn to clean it yourself. You can't beat this tool for your lens cleaning needs. I must say I am used to working on small electronic devices but I think anybody that is careful can use this cleaning solution.

The product works good. I've not used other products, therefore, cannot compare, but the Loupe lets me see the dusts on the sensor and I used that plus the LensPen to clean my 1DS MK3 without having to use the Coper Hills wet clean kit yet. However, the lensPen probably left some kind of debris on the sensor which I used the Giottos Rocket Air to blow them away and everything is clean (note: I did use the rocket air to blow all dusts first even before I used the LensPen). Only used this one, so let see what the next cleaning would leave the same residues and I'll update this review.

Needed to clean the sensor on my Nikon D40. Spec of dirt wouldn't blow off. Found this LensPen Sensor Kit and it worked great. Was a bit leary at first to touch the sensor but did it and now it is clean and no more specs on pictures. works real well.
