My first,
By Yulara (Pacific Northwest) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Leo the Lop (reissue) (Serendipity Books) (Paperback)
My youngest brother bought this book for me when I was about 21 years old. I was raising French Lop rabbits, which is why he bought it. Little did he or I know what was in store for me. I am now nearly 47 years old, still have that first book. I read it to my kids when they were little, along with other Serendipity books, among which is "Buttermilk." Even now, when things are rough in their lives, my kids, (now 10 & 14) will ask me to read "Buttermilk" and "Leo the Lop" to them when they go to bed.
More than the morals of the stories, my kids find a kind of peace and safety from the books. So do I. Simply put, they are magical. As for "reviewing" this book here, I give it the highest rating possible. I highly recommend it to everyone, children and adults alike. Adults can learn a lot from children's books. And they can remember those things they've forgotten along the way. Great, great book. I can only thank the Stephen Cosgrove and Robin James for these books. My love of them started with this one little book: "Leo the Lop." Thanks so much.

Leo the Lop,

I cannot tell you how much I love this book. As a kid I remember reading it. When asked to do a review in my Children's Literature class this book instantly came to mind! This is a book that will speak to your children no matter who they are. Every child has something 'different' about them that makes them feel insecure. "Leo the Lop" is a great book to help your children feel positive about these 'differences'! I was so crushed when I found out my mom had given it to Goodwill that I ordered it here with the quickest delivery! This is a FANTASTIC book!

Normal is whatever you are!,

This review is from: Leo the Lop (reissue) (Serendipity Books) (Paperback)
The first book I ever learned to read! I am now teaching a few reading classes, and in my attempts to tap into whatever it is that motivates us to read, I immediately thought of this book. Partially I loved it because it represented an achievement, but I loved that Leo's differences ended up making him so special in the end. I am sure that we can all appreciate his struggles to "fit in", such as hanging upside-down from a tree to make his ears go straight. My mom still says, "Normal is whatever you are," whenever I have needed some affirmation, or when I have become critical of others. The use of animals to portray the moral makes the story universal and entertaining. I guess it's geared for readers 4-8, but I recommend it for anyone.
