The first title on my bookshelf
As an entertainment author, columnist and consultant there are a couple of books I like to keep nearby for quick reference, and Leonard Maltin's Movie/Video Guide is always the first title on my bookshelf. I began buying this book back in 1975 and haven't missed an edition since. It is always up-to-date with the most accurate information available in a very handy...

not as good as Mick Martin and Marsha Porter
I bought this book a few years ago did not like it one bit. I exchanged it after a few days with the Mick Martin and Marsha Porter video movie guide which I have loved ever since. Being into foreign movies for the most part I miss the old categorized by genre format deeply. Leonard Maltin looks good only when compared to Roger Ebert's idiotic book. I just saw the...

This review is from: Leonard Maltin's Movie and Video Guide 1999 (Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide, 1999) (Paperback)
As an entertainment author, columnist and consultant there are a couple of books I like to keep nearby for quick reference, and Leonard Maltin's Movie/Video Guide is always the first title on my bookshelf. I began buying this book back in 1975 and haven't missed an edition since. It is always up-to-date with the most accurate information available in a very handy volume. I particularly like the large size edition as I find it more comfortable to use, which is important to me because this book gets lots of use. When conflicting information turns up in my research I always go with Leonard's work because I am confident in its accuracy. I just can't write about show business without it.

A Very Useful and Accurate book, August 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Leonard Maltin's Movie and Video Guide 1999 (Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide, 1999) (Paperback)
I read this book a lot. Usually, before I see a movie, I use this as a guide to see these reviews, so I know if it really could be a good or bad movie. And, sometimes, I just look to see what he thinks of movies, just for the heck of it.

I just saw the Ballad of Narayama by Shohei Imamura, oooh it was good.
