I love this stuff!,

If you like real country music (i.e. Bakersfield country music) you'll love this. Tommy Collins was a huge influence on Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and Red Simpson. Buck played lead guitar on a lot of this material. Check this out!

AWESOME! Finally all the great hits of a wonderful singer/songwriter in one collection. Actually, not ALL. This is a GREAT collection, but I'm very disappointed that a box set containing this many great works by an artist, has left out one of his greatest novelty records, "Opal, You Asked Me." I mean, if we're going to have all of this man's great hits in a box set, let's have ALL his hits, especially in a box set this size. I mean, it's not one of those dinky two or three disc sets that only showcases his very best works. This has 5 discs with literaly all his songs. With such a big collection, why would you leave out ANY of his hits? Nonetheless, a GREAT collection, just a letdown that all his works didn't get included.

Another great box set from the folks at Bear Family Records. This one covers the career of the Great Tommy Collins. Known moreso for his novelty songs, Tommy Collins had one of the most distinct voices in country music. Often credited with helping to originate the Bakersfield Sound, Tommy's music and vocal stylings could best be compared with an early Wynnn Stewart. There are 5 Discs in this box set, and each is filled (30 songs) with some of the best music you will hear. The recordings are all original, in fact, the first few selections from disc 1 contain all of the "fuzz" and "echo" of early recordings; but with that said, Bear Records cleaned-up the sound as best as possible without interfering with the actual recordings. As with all Bear family releases, a huge book is included with the 5 discs, detailing the bio and discography of the great Tommy Collins. A superb box set, well worth the money.
