1.0 out of 5 stars Nowhere near informative
Okay, so I was excited to see a book come out about Leonardo DeCaprio. I've followed his work since Growing Pains and have always liked his acting. So I, probably like many other people, expected some great things from this book. The author just didn't deliver. The texts seems like it was taken from a bunch of teen magazines and spliced into chapters, without a trace...

4.0 out of 5 stars Leo rules!!!!!!!!!!!, September 29, 1998

Leo is the best actor out there, so this book does a perfect job of telling about his life. From his early days on "Growing Pains" and "The Parenthood" to his first feature film as a lead role "This Boy's life" to The mega, oscar winning hit "Titanic", this book tells it all! This is something no Leo lover should be without!

Okay, so I was excited to see a book come out about Leonardo DeCaprio. I've followed his work since Growing Pains and have always liked his acting. So I, probably like many other people, expected some great things from this book. The author just didn't deliver. The texts seems like it was taken from a bunch of teen magazines and spliced into chapters, without a trace of an actual interview with Leonardo! The whole tone of the book was much more gossipy than was expected, but it did have a few nice pictures in the middle.

In this reader's opinion, it seems like the author realized a hot topic for the market, figured she could sell the book to a bunch of teenage fans and make a lot of money. But I think that if you aren't going to deliver a proper biography with solid interviews (like maybe with people who actually are friends with the every day Leonardo and not just his acting pals) then it shouldn't be published.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's not that bad!, June 5, 1998

I thought I would write something on be half of the author. I read many of the reviews and found them not very accurate. This book is over a year old. That is when I got it. When I did the information was very new and good. i liked this book because it gave alot of information about Leonardo. But, on the down side, it made him look like a saint or a goody-2-shoes. If you liked his old work better than "Titanic" and "Man in the Iron Mask," I say this is a wonderful book to read, but if you are into him in his new movies get a newer book.

Leonardo is a portrait of the perfect guy. He is extremely talented and gorgeous. He knows with his work when to be serious and when to have a little fun. If I had a chance to meet any one person, I would choose him.

2.0 out of 5 stars I don't like it, May 29, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Leonardo DiCaprio: A MODERN DAY ROMEO (Laurel-Leaf Books) (Paperback)
I think the book's information was , on top of being outdataed, was presented in a text-book like fashion. I think that he isn't anyone special in the acting world and most of his roles aren't original.

This biography was actually a very good book. It somehow made me want to read on, even though there wasn't a plot or anything. Some information is outdated, mainly about him dating Kristine Zang. But overall, I think his fans would really enjoy this biography.
